If Fender can charge $4000-5000+ For a custom shop Stat or Tele why can’t Suhr? And with Suhr you can order exactly what you want and know it will be a top notch instrument.
Strats and Teles are assembly line guitars designed to be assembled by low-skilled labor, so I could argue that charging a lot for any variation thereof is dumb. That said, I’d pay $20k for a September ‘64 fiesta red Strat. I would not pay $5K for any modern Strat. I’m not a big Strat/Tele guy, though.
For the record I have paid $5k for a custom shop guitar. Just not a Strat or Tele.
