If Fender can charge $4000-5000+ For a custom shop Stat or Tele why can’t Suhr? And with Suhr you can order exactly what you want and know it will be a top notch instrument.

Strats and Teles are assembly line guitars designed to be assembled by low-skilled labor, so I could argue that charging a lot for any variation thereof is dumb. That said, I’d pay $20k for a September ‘64 fiesta red Strat. I would not pay $5K for any modern Strat. I’m not a big Strat/Tele guy, though.

For the record I have paid $5k for a custom shop guitar. Just not a Strat or Tele.

Actually, I don't think this is Tom Bukovac. He gives his viewers chord progressions and licks to practice, and this is one of his viewers. I think he does have a Suhr, though.

Good catch, jp! I should have noticed that!

+1. A new Sadowsky Semi-Hollow is currently $5K retail. I didn't pay that for my used '09, but in my opinion, it is worth the money.

I love mine. It's a custom Tele on steroids!

David Kilminster, guitarist with Roger Waters, plays a Suhr. Suhr may have also created a Custom artist model for him as well.

that guy is great! "Killy" is what they call him. ask him any question whatsoever, and you will basically always get the same exact answer "...Just like David..." (Gilmour), in a super English accent. how polite and honest!!

The guitar has sold before I had the chance to check it out. I probably should have bought it "from afar", but something told me to get my hands on it first since it was local. Well, that's how it goes....

Yes, the 90's AVRI Teles came with Leo's wiring, and a kit to mod it to modern, as well as a kit to mod it to [that monstrosity that should have never seen the light of day] the 6 saddle bridge, but mine like others is still in the original configuration.

That's good to know! So I'll keep my eyes open.

Should I read this that you rather deal with non-intonating guitar than an evolution that lets you concentrate on music rather than museum ?

Finally

😅 😅 😅 😅

I had an American Tele for a short while with this bridge:

I put on better saddles as I recall (I don't think those are the originals), but I absolutely hated playing it. Super-extreme intonation is overrated; so much amazing music has been created with those original imperfect brass saddles that the mind boggles. The only time poor intonation gets to me is if it's very off and I'm soloing a lot on the guitar. If I'm just bangin' out cowboy chords then tuning trumps all.

Perfect intonation notwithstanding, the first iteration (70's) of Fender's six saddle bridge is a seriously flawed design, without going into detail, the original three brass saddle bridge is infinitely preferable. No contest.

This bridge.

Otherwise there's nothing inherently wrong with a six saddle bridge, but a lot of the tone of the original Telecaster comes from the large ferrous metal plate and those three brass saddles.

I continue with the bridge.

While I have this sometimes nasty habit of getting into thinking of solutions for problems that are not mine . . . this idea popped in my head. It is one of those where you can eat your cake and save it, too 😏

This time I used something straight to get the picture more clear - however - intentionally exaggerated angle of saddle,

Here is a picture of a saddle for two strings - you can see the two strings - the two height adjustment screws + the saddlle. i have not drawn the intonation screw - but I drew the dotted centerline of it and the location and angle of the hole.

Double-saddle like this would be better for intonation. Also if you would be using plain G - you would just remove the height-screws - flip the thing - re-insert height-screws.

On industrial level this would be quite easy to mass-produce - looking forward for SM selling these at 87USD for a set 😂

HAH

Serves me right - not being a Tele guy - but still - it was an interesting exercise for the little gray cells in my brain.
