Good to hear. But for a few 100 more, could you not save up for another true Westerly? I have owned several MIC acoustics, and have always been eventually disappointed with the thick lacquer. My experience with MIC is like that of my experience with Taylors. I always end up selling them.

Try a Blueridge .... I ain't selling mine .. We'll wait how much you got ?

Nearly got a Bluerifge several times. They sound great. And recording kings too. I just figure with the surplus of old westerly guilds, why? Ah never mind. In the end does it matter? Those buying MIC Guilds right now are doing more for the brand and current company than I am. I will stop complaining. Trumps ties are MIC too.

I think one thing that is really going for the MIC Guilds is.... you can PLAY them in a store ! Or at the very least you have a selection of instruments to choose from and order one right now, when the mood strikes. My heart is fighting my reason over a StarFire, right now. But, it's such a crap shoot spending 1000+ bucks based on a little picture and the honesty of the seller. If I waited a bit, I could find a new SF that was MIC for well under $1000. What I want is a killer sunburst with HB-1s or Mini Hums. I'll never find one on a peg hook to try.

at least you have a better chance of finding one in Cal it seems I see lot of guilds that way . But I agree I just called Sam Ash they just stock the Westrly line as of yesterday but no other American Guilds which they did one or two here and there . :( but with the switch in owners it'll take some time before we see what we want . Ever feel like your getting old and crabby to wait ! LOL

yeah if you have a thing for Guilds of old then you have a thing ! hahahaha .... I think we guitar players just need big big room with every avaible guitar out there and a nice hostess with our favorate beverage to serve use while we play every thing we have time for us to see/hear what we like or don't like . That's the biggest issue we have most is we like what we buy becuase we did not hear the other one LOL .

So on goes the game , The hunt ! .. all i can say about my Blueridge is shes the best I've owned and heard in all the guitars I've played but side by side might change things up . Only other guitar that stood out in the way the Blueridge did was a StoneBridge ... very very impressed and she was used. I know I still newbie here but I sticking around and hopefuly I get my with room full Of Guilds to say YES ! I'm hooked ! ..... I am as far as 12 strings so thats shows promise .... Hmmm 512 for sale anyone ? hahahaha no I can't so that yet but I want to ... come on lotto !

I have a question about the new Westerly Collection. I have owned Guild's top of the line F512 before, but had to sell them sadly, and may be in the market for another 12-string within the year. I have seen the GAD F1512 and didn't care for the black pickguard nor the big block inlays on the neck (without the abalone wedge). So I like look of the new Westerly F1512. I like the plain dot inlays and tortoise style pickguard (reminds me of the F212XL) but my problem now is with the head stock. It looks almost bright red in the pictures. I actually like the head stock on the GAD F1512 better. Does the new headstocks on these guitars really look that red? Just call me a fussy guitar player!

Welcome to LTG!
Doesn't look any red here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EeH0bE4Vfk
or here in that video: http://www.acousticguitar.com/Gear/Reviews/Guild-Westerly-F-1512

But in general I think the headstock veneer used on the Westerly Collection matches the wood and color of the back and sides of the guitar.
So if you get one in Cherry Red color the headstock looks cherry red!

Means for the Westerly C. F-1512 if the body is rosewood, the headstock veneer is rosewood (vs the mahogany neck color). Maybe the best picture is this from Elderly:

I wont argue with your logic Westerly.. Someone mentioned the ability to play them first which does a lot.. And true to form I have gotten rid of the 2 GADs that I owned.. However, there is something appealing to me about owning a variety of Guilds from different shops.. Though I think we can agree we both have an affinity for Westerly Guilds, I like checking out what the brand is putting out in the way of new inventory.. I am more so waiting on the Oxnard D20 to test out. I wont be buying any new models ( unless I see an unbelievable deal ) until I have tested what is coming out of Oxnard.. I will say again my experience with MIC has been pretty good. The GAD 50 I had would be a mainstay for me had it not been for the fret probs it had due to neglect from the previous owner.

I like the way you think Ray! I think you touched on the key word there and that is "hunt".... We are always hunting.. I know I am.. I love the Guilds I own and I have decided that they will not part with me for the foreseeable future.. However, I am always looking and following where my GAS takes me... The good kind of GAS that is.. Or maybe not so good if you were to ask my wife... I buy. I sell. I trade.. Always looking for that next one.. Fortunately for me the journey has not been too taxing on the home funds.. I have been able to use surplus income gigging and trading / selling what I already have to get the collection I have so far.. Not that it matters, when I find a guitar I really like I find the money some how.. I am sure I will buy more that I love and just have to have only to find something I like event better making we want to trade or sell and head back down the guitar rabbit hole..

Unfortunately not all of us have reached Westerly's Zin-like state on acquiring guitars.. I am envious and hope one day to find my inner guitar peace..

Well said , I like the guitar rabbit hole haha anyone draw good ? Like to see a cartoon pic of that lol a bugs character in a hole filled with Guilds .

Sorry about my constant typos , me and my iPhone still don't agree on what I'm typing funny that android was more friendly about putting in the right word for one letter off then a sentence having nothing to do what I'm expressing ... My bent finger tip does not help either lol

Anyway I'm amazed at the guitar collection of Guilds a lot of you have and I'm not jealous per say not everyone has the mojo to fund raise .

But I do want hear what you folks write and play with all these guitars how in the world can you be just playing in the rabbit hole ? Even if your old .. Well heck I'm 54 but I hope to keep on with what I'm doing so long as health issues don't take me out . One eye to the sky as say that lol

Dang I'm drifting again ... I'm gunna get to Sam Ash and play the westerly's hope they have a few different ones . 😊

I nearly bought a GAD50 back in 07. It sounded awesome. Huge.

Are you thinking D20 eventually? I am interested as well in what Oxnard produces, but will be some time before I can buy one. I hope some Tucson stores get new Guilds in. But since I already own a D20 (D25 flatback) and the M20 is too small, there won't be much to choose from. Perhaps I just hold out for an Orpheum. 😄

I am sir... I really want an all hog in the stable and figured that one might do the trick.. Just ultimately interested in what Mr. Ferguson will put out.. I have never played an Orpheum, but I have yet to hear anything but raves about them.. I hope Tucson is treating you well sir. It's a shame we never got to grab a cup of coffee or a jam session before you left North TX.

Ray- Sam Ash near my house had a D120, M120 and a D140.. They all had pros and cons.. Biggest pro for all is a handsome price tag compared to US guitar of similar caliber... Gibson especially... I know you like to touch, but the D125 which is on sale for $350 on sweet water is easily matched to the Westerly Collection D120 Sam Ash will have and is half the price.. So if you pick one up and you like the feel, you might consider ordering the D125 and saving som loot.. Just a thought sir..

Thanks D I love to hear them or all guitars funny had buskers day in town ( street musicians ) you throw a pick into a bucket to vote for the best band or musician . Most of the guitars were Taylor's from young to old . I had to chuckle because to me they sound like crud .. Don't hate me lol I was disappointed in the musicians for the most part not because I'm better I'm not just hate cover tunes endless cover tunes no originality. But a few like a bluegrass band had them but I had ask them to do it they won lol . Anyway I just want try more of the westerly guitars but will not buy one . I'll be looking at the Adirondack top guilds in rosewood . If it comes to saving money the Westerly's would have to surpass the Bluridge sound for me buy one that and the fact I like shiney ones and Blueridge have a lacquer coating better for outdoor use/durability . But I'll keep an open mind . 😊

Oops let me ad I don't know what there using to coat the westerly's.
