He is so good, so smooth and makes it look so easy....sometimes you wonder if Guild made a few 'Player" guitars....like...with a crank....like a 'Player" piano....That man is smoother than a double Latte..... Steffan

Frosty's awesome. I thought his vid was of a Tacoma-era D-55, but Joe might be right. I know he really liked a Tacoma version... FYI, my '71 F-50R used to be in Frosty's way-more-capable hands. ;)

I would think Frosty could make a fortune giving guitar lessons. I'd certainly pay for them if he were in my neck of the woods.

I'm pretty sure he's said he gives lessons.

Hi gents. Rich - I'm glad you like that video. That is an '81 D-55 and Chaz is right, I have owned a few D-55 guitars including a couple of Tacoma models I think sounded very good. Guitars come and go and I do not happen to have a D-55 in my keep at the moment. That '81 was a gorgeous looking guitar with a dark tobacco sunburst. Firebird, here on LTG, has a guitar with a similar finish.

I do teach guitar (and clawhammer banjo)... but I have yet to make that fortune West is talking about. :|

Thanks, count. The only items of interest would be a couple of Hoboken guitars (F-20, F-112) and a Gruhn/Walker D-60. The F-20 has been very useful over the years - good size for kids. The 12 string... well, I take that out every once in a while to refill the humidifier. I do play the D-60, maybe the best rosewood dread I have found for my style... warm and balanced sound.

Yes Sir Frosty, that D60 sounds great. Ever played a D66?

No, I have not. But that's the same Gruhn-design guitar isn't it? The model was D-66 until a point and then renamed D-60, I think.

Always a pleasure Frosty to hear you play. Real guitar players finger-pick, so that's why I must use a flatpick. :)

Guild was using that dark tobacco finish on many of their guitars in the early 80's. Some of their electrics look awesome finished that way. I like it because it does not have the red, yellow and orange that some many other guitars have.

Frosty's guitar and my two are indeed nice examples of this finish. Who else out there has the dark tobacco finish on their Guild? Pics?

Yes, renamed, but a few changes were made also. The top on mine is so clean, I thought it might be engleman. Both Geo Gruhn and Hans tell me it's sitka though.
