You've done more for Guild visibility in Europe than anybody else I know of.

Thank you Toni!

So, regarding a west coast meet-up ... anybody want a free surf lesson?

Pascal, Sandy started the ball rollin' on a September 20/21 trial balloon date. Might be a little optimist to expect CMG to host us so soon after the acquisition? Sandy and I discussed the possibility of a LTG get-together with a reception/jam session with the CMG folks (either in Oxnard or LA).......and a complete LMG (with factory tour) in 2015. Real key here is for a CA LTGer(s) to spearhead this. I don't know LA that well.......Treem, Dadaist, LA, others? HELP! I'm sure I can speak for Sandy that he and I will be glad to help as worker bees.

As I posted on the other thread, if we're looking to do something in Sept this year can we move it up a weekend as Amy and I will be in LA ton the 14/15.

We were planning on being in the Venice Beach area on Sunday the 15th to take in the "sights". We're up for having a cocktail or two with any LA LTG'rs that might be available!

That was about the best response we could have hoped for, very positive and refreshingly free of corporate-speak gobbledygook. Toni, thanks for taking the initiative to write, and for posting the response. (And Mr. Thomas, thanks for responding).

I'm not sure I want to see the Guild Mark series revived quite yet :) Thanks Toni!

Agreed! Being a nylon player, I would like to see them revive the nylon string Guild guitars, but I don't want to see them brought back as Mark's. Call them something else; Mark's haven't been made in over 25 years. When you think of Guild Mark's, you think of Carlos Greco, Hoboken and Westerly. I guess I would like to wrap that up and place it on the shelf. Just my 2 cents.

Now there's no support for the new company because everyone has blown their guitar budgets on New Hartford Guilds!! Sheesh......
Not everybody.
Still holdin' on to my pipe dream custom order F30R arched back with 24-3/4" ebony fretboard, 1-11/16" nut, and enclosed tuners.....and a G-shield. GOTTA have a G-shield.
Sumthin' most Valley Boys wouldn't recognize on a billboard in Burbank...

Hmm, not quite my ideal. But I'd definitely be interested!

Very promising! Jon, if you are reading this thread, we wish you well. Just an FYI,New Hartford has great tourist potential and the factory could serve as a Nazareth-like draw for Guild owners. Just sayin'!

Best,

Rick

I'd prefer the same weekend as Kurt - not that the chances are very high I could get there. But Sept 20/21 is simply impossible.

Hey, somebody had to do it Tom, and who better than a bunch of cheapskates like us?
Funny you should mention that. Just this morning I was thinking we're not exactly known for our, uh, diversity around here, either.
I'd imagine that America's changing cultural demographic may also demand some new image building from such a traditional brand.
I gotta admit I don't think Fender was doin' such a bad job of that toward the end, on the Guild web page, with the fairly constant stream of "new artists on Guilds".
Shoot, they might even wanna try to get the president to visit the plant while he's out campaigning for keeping jobs here.
And you probably know what it took for me to choke that out.

The whole response is very promising especially "Much of the materials and machinery that was used in New Hartford will remain the same. The talented employees of the New Hartford factory are a fluid topic of conversation at the moment, and we’ll have more updates in the coming weeks."

I'm still guessing they are likely to relocate operations to Oxnard but maybe there's a chance of some continuity in the New Hartford area, even if it's not at the same facility. It would be great if a lot of the same craftsmen can get on board. Interesting times ahead for sure.

Tom, it depends what the deal was. If CMG bought all "assets" maybe the guitars hanging in NH were part of it already and the money the LTG members spent in the last 24 hours actually went to CMG already instead of FMIC, who knows...

Pretty sure the proceeds of any purchases made before the closing of the CMG-FMIC deal would go to FMIC, not CMG.

Don't worry Markus, nothing is carved in stone. The weekend of the 14/15th, Mrs Two and I will still be in Scotland, and the following weekend, I'll likely still be too jet lagged to feel like getting on a plane again. October is looking more like it, if at all this year. We shall see.

October and November in Southern Cal are like May and June in New England...heck even December's barely discernible except the days get pretty short.
