Hello,
Please, can anyone recommend a good sturdy gig bag for my Newark St. Starfire 1V-12 string (here in the UK).

I do have the original (wooden) case, but combined with the weight of the guitar, I am now finding it a bit heavy & difficult for transporting between home and gigs.
I do look after my equipment, so it does get treated with respect and not "thrown about" and a lighter but sturdy gig bag would be my preferred option.
The difficulty is finding a hollowbody gig bag large enough to accommodate the extra length of a 12 string. I have looked at the Mono hollow body case, but the internal dimensions are critical and appear to come up just short. Other available gig bags (that I have found so far) are mostly cheap and don't offer much protection, so quite unsuitable.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.......Brian.

Try looking at some of the bass gig bags...also some of the hybrid case makers including those in Britain might have something with less weight than an original case.

Guild says this gig bag, SKU: 003-1520-100, "fits all Starfire models." The specs on the Guild website say the Starfire IV-12 has the same overall length as the 6-string Starfire IV.

Sadly, cannot get many genuine Guild parts and accessories here in the UK., and any imports are levied with our outrageous import duties!!

I did however, finally find this one.......

It seems to tick all the right boxes and also, I hope sharing this, might be of help to others looking for a lighter, sturdy gig bag for their hollow/semi-hollow body 12strings too.

Cheers......Brian

You can order Guild parts through a Guild dealer with no duties. I got a case through Wunjo Guitars in London

I messaged Mono directly, the Mono "Vertigo" hollow body bag will DEFINITELY NOT take the Guild Starfire 1V 12string.

Thank you for the link to "Wunjo Guitars".

I'll now wait and see if the Gator bag is all it appears to be.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Have you checked Ritter? They do a wide range. Check also what's on Thomann.de as they have their own line of cases and bags.

yes, my bad, the Guild website is always right

😄😄😄😄

Can I please clear up this confusion.

The Mono hollowbody gig bag WILL NOT fit the Starfire 1V ST 12 String, which is why in my post, I said the measurements are critical, and why I have ordered the Gator gig bag. Also, as I said, I hope this may help others who like me, are looking for a lighter alternative to the regular case.

Indeed, the Guild website does state the overall length of the The Starfire 1V ST and the Starfire1V ST 12 string version as both being the same overall length at 41.5" (1055mm)...........this is WRONG!
The overall length of the 12 string is 42.5" (43" including the strap button) making it JUST too long for the Mono gig bag.

I have to say though, there are one or two other discrepancies too, for instance, my volume/tone controls layout is not as shown on the Starfire 1V ST 12 string catalogue picture, although this is not as critical as the various dimension specs!

All this aside, I absolutely love my Starfire 12 and it continues to be my regular gigging "weapon of choice".

Shall we "put this to bed" now?(y):)

As I mentioned earlier, it won't even take a Newark St Starfire III. It does take my 335.

The Guild website and before that the catalogues have a long and glorious history of being wrong about many things. I was browsing the 2002 Guild catalogue on GAD's wonderful site and it proudly lists all the Starfires as being "semi-hollowbody" among other things :)
