I love my old D-25M a lot, but the DV-52 is lighter and livelier. And well it should be, it's a serious upgrade from the D-25. And the DV-52 has the rosewood sound. But, I can pick all night on the old D-25 and not be any worse for wear! :D Plenty of bass lines happening in that guitar, the bottom end really booms from the arched back.

I second that. I have played one DV52 and it is one of the best guitars I have ever played. That thing would give any company a run for their money. But, like you said, it is very different than the D25. Apples and oranges, but both taste great and are good fore you.

:D 'At's nice to hear. Thought you two had grown apart. :D
Oh I've always enjoyed their tone and depth. I just wish I could get that in a small body guitar. It is a tall order to make a small body guitar that sounds like a dread.
Why I have a fantasy F30 pipe dream. Since it's deeper than my F65ce and it was available in an archback, it might be the unicorn I'm looking for. I was gonna say you also really ought to consider an F65ce, since you're independantly wealthy and all, ( ) and I remembered Marcellis recently posted a "want to trade" on his blue one, and I think it's still in Texas. Maybe you can figure out a way to check it out. Yeah, I know Texas is a BIG place, it might be farther away than I realize. Still, it was quicker to mention here than in a pm.
Actually Al, I was thinking more along the lines of a GF25 or GF30. I think the arch back design is a smart way to get a small guitar to become a bit boomier.

I think so too, Jonathan. If you get the chance (Arlington maybe?) you should play the GF30 that I sold to Toni. It's such a sweet little guitar, and the arch back makes a big difference in the sound. I only sold it to her because the custom had arrived and I thought I didn't need it anymore (wrong), especially in light of what has happened to the custom (top fell apart; long story). I had installed a bone nut and saddle on it, which moved it up even more. Now that the GF25 is on the way, all's well that ends well, and this one will be getting a bone nut and saddle too.

I think the GF line might very well be the best acoustic guitars that Guild has ever made.

Giving those guitars a whirl would be a good idea. There aren't too many maple guitars out there so I am still not convinced I am a maple kind of guy. The GF25, on the other hand, is a sure thing, just rare. But I guess they are both pretty rare.

Yes, and I'd guess the 30 is even rarer than the 25. They're out there, but finding one just requires a bit of patience. I never played a maple 6er that I liked before the GF30 (12ers are a different story), which is why I'm holding up such high expectations for the GF25. I know that the members here that own them won't give them up, so there must be something to that. Are you planning on coming to Arlington? There might be two GF25s there (mine, and Ken's), and if Toni comes a GF30 as well.
