The Plimsouls / A million Miles Away, excellent song! Peter Case is still out there making great music and still going strong. He's one of my favorite singer / songwriters and he's a pretty good rack harmonica player too.

Peter Case - 8 - Walk In The Woods (1986) - YouTube

Peter Case - 6 - Small Town Spree (1986) - YouTube

I saw the Peter Case Band a few years back in a pub here in Sydney supporting the Flamin' Groovies. They were fantastic! Know about The Nerves, a band he was in in the late 70s? Also in that band was Paul Collins who had a band called The Beat. Their first album is power pop perfection. Nearly very band I went to see & my band as well, did a cover off that album. The other guy was Jack Lee. His debut album "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" was also really good. He wrote the songs "Hanging On The Telephone" & "Come Back & Stay" which were hits for Blondie & Paul Young.

Not to get off track, but this is Sal Valentino the lead singer of the Beau Brummels from back in the day, with what I'm pretty sure is a Guild, of all things!!

Guitar players Ron Elliot and Don Irving both played Starfire IIIs so its not too surprising.

Wait! That's a three-hit wonder!

When will it end? Let's do fifty-hit wonders so we can talk about The Beatles... 😮

In the days of my youth there were charts that rated the popularity of recorded songs. Generally the charts were based on sales or AM plays but the concept of "chart" did adjust some when there were "albums" and people who listened to FM.

Generally something was a hit if it appeared in the top ten of a chart. A one hot wonder was a band that had a song in the Top Ten once, but never again. Sometimes those bands faded away and other times the name lived on with members being replaced and could be found on the County Fair circuit. So there are a lot of postings that don't fit that definition but I am amused nevertheless. There is also the question of a band that had a decades long career but only one song in the top ten. By some definitions they are a One Hit Wonder but because they had a lucrative career maybe that' not the best description for them.

I think Rockwell qualifies for a OHW!! There's no way he couldn't. And it's an okay song. If Michael Jackson hadn't done the background and he hadn't been the son of Barry Gordy I doubt very much this song would've gone anywhere. So it's not what you know but WHO you know.......
