Emergency Go Packs for seniors?

I am trying to put together two-day or three-day "go-packs" for my family. We are all up there in age, and can't be humping it with A.L.I.C.E. packs, M-16s, grenades, etc. like I did in my youth. I am thinking aside from the content of the "go-packs" we are still going to need individual collapsible/folding wagons. Any insights on what to actually pack in the packs? I live in an urban sub-tropic environment. Should everyone carry the same items, or would better to spread some of the items among the various "go-packs"?

Also, any recommendations on collapsible/folding wagons?

Important documents? Medication that needs to be refrigerated? The list just keeps getting longer and longer; too long to be of any practical help to me.

TIA,

Tommy

Well it Depends ;]

Water. Snack bars. TP. Band aids. Knife. Paracord. Compass. Emergency blanket. Signal mirror. Possibly a take down .22 and small amount of ammo for small game. Fire starter of some type. Shelter half. Extra socks. Boonie hat.

This would all be for wildland survival.

In the city, I have no idea what you would need besides an invisibility cloak.

The question for me would be for what kind of emergencies you want to prepare. A house fire due to wildfires? Hurricane? Flooding? So it means you need to take whatever you need until you reach the next point of civilization. And it depends if you ever can return to your house. (unlikely in a California wildfire where it could burn completely down). Would power or drinking water be available whereever you plan going in 2 or 3 days? Going by car or only by foot? I guess if you live in countries like Ukraine where war is happening your go-pack has different needs than in relatively peaceful parts of the world.

The bandits on the road to the wilderness would probably enjoy a new wagon

The intent is to be able to deal with a localized "grab-n-go" emergency with the "assumption" that we will be able to meet up with friends, family, or an emergency shelter within a day or two. Beyond that, a seven-day on-foot survival plan does not seem viable for the seniors. At that point, they have been advised to plan and "assume" that they will be able to shelter in place for two to three weeks. That means a two to three weeks supply of food, water, etc. with the assumption that they will not have electricity, running water, access to stores, or their vehicles. Truly, shelter in place.

What does urban sub tropic mean?

The simple truth is that if you’re looking to survive in the woods/jungle/outdoors and you don’t have practice (knowledge and fitness) doing so, no amount of stuff is going to help you survive. If you’re adding societal collapse to the list then it only gets worse. If we’re talking natural disaster, then pack everything you need for three days to a week that it will take for the Red Cross to arrive or for you to get to a camp.

Priorities for “stuff” should be shelter, water, food (in that order), then everything else. If you’re concerned about fire then add N100 breathing masks to the list, preferably ones that cover the eyes.

Lists can include all sorts of stuff, but people die from exposure, then lack of water, the lack of food, and that’s without assuming societal collapse.

Does this bug out list include which guitar to bring? Something in desert tan, olive green, or woodland? Matt finish....

I would definitely have a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

Instead of wagons they make a variety of rolling suitcases/cases from travel to more rugged stuff.

Yeah, I was going to look into rolling suitcases too, as many of the seniors are much more familiar with them than they are with backpacks and wagons.

I really need a little red wagon around the yard ;]
All I remember about those wagons are my friends racing them down the asphalt roads. Push right to go left, push left to go right. Sound easy, but not so easy for kids. It was all fun and games until the first kid cracked his head open hitting the concrete curb. Kids didn't wear helmets and pads in those days but in the long run, cracking your head open turned out to be a feather in your cap......if you could still wear one.

I needed Uncle Google to help me decide that there were more definitions of "go-pack" than the one I was familiar with.

Having gone through a couple of back to back hurricanes living in Puerto Rico several years past, a solar charger for your smart phone is indispensable. As long as you can access disaster relief notifications telling you where to get shelter, water and food, and airlines schedules so that you can get a flight out as soon as things open up, you're golden. Without a solar charger to keep you powered up, your running blind as soon as the battery dies, and all that burns batteries quick.
