I happened to have my D25 in a "Starfish" guitar stand the other day. Playing with our German Shepherd, I rolled a heavy plastic ball across the floor and that sucker went through the living room, through the dining room, and into the music room, and centered my D25 right below the bridge. It would have knocked the D25 out of the stand, but the Starfish stand has a neck rest that locks the neck in place. Though it hit the guitar pretty hard, and knocked the body of the guitar off the supports on back, the neck restraint kept it from hitting the floor. Otherwise, it might have looked much like this guitar. Fortunately, not a scratch on the D25. Great guitar stands.

I'd say the OP split guitar fell, from a decent distance, or was Townshened.

I should challenge Webster to consider it a word ;]

Townshend: Verb, to smash a guitar on stage.

Note to self, do not use your guitar as a bowling pin ;]]]
