It's interesting how a new topic will put the old gray matter to work on unexpected issues, but I always enjoy the learning process. In this case, I've had occasion to look at my other arched-back Guilds to consider the laminated backs and now the binding.

We've seen my D15 and it has no binding on the top or back; my D25 has binding on the top and back; but my D4-12 has binding on the top and none on the back.

Interesting,
Joe

Branching out today, I had to check the Framus parlor guitar that I keep at my shop. It has an arched maple back and NO binding where the back and sides meet. The transition between the back and sides is impossible to see, so it's a pretty good job.

It was made in Bavaria by....Bavarians. Could it be a BMW? Bavarian Musik Werke?
