Visiting my son in Santa Monica. About a mile from his home I found an office for Cordoba/Guild at the corner of 19th and Broadway.

That's where I was born! Santa Monica, not that Cordoba/Guild building. Pretty fancy digs for a company. Real estate there is insane!!

I was born & raised in Pasadena, but my parents would often take us to a park in Santa Monica on a steep cliff overlooking the ocean. It had a white wooden fence bordering the edge of the cliff. This was in the ‘50s, and my little kid’s brain was sure it was the most beautiful place on earth.

And fun fact - After traversing Pasadena & Hollywood, Santa Monica was the western end point for Route 66.

That park up on the cliffs overlooking the ocean is beautiful! Even though we moved to the Valley (San Fernando Valley) when I was 3 my dad worked for RAND Corporation, a military and government think tank that was right near there by the pier for 35 years before he retired and became the chief pilot for The Air Group in Van Nuys. Santa Monica is beautiful.

That’s the one! Thanks for sharing pics. I could always instantly conger up that view in my mind, and it probably has a great deal to do with why I’ve always been drawn to the ocean. For the last 34 years, we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to watch the sun go down beyond the bay & over the ocean, from our front window here along the north Oregon coast. A long ways from Santa Monica, but the same soothing waters - just not nearly as warm!

It could be where GSI (Guitar Salon International) stands if it's at number 1455 19th St., a showroom where they display many high-end (often Spanish) guitars...All the most famous luthiers' guitars are there (very high prices). Seems to me they must take all kinds of photographs, drawings and specs from there, and then build their owns from it - they have many models in tribute to the greatest masters... Maybe that's where they learned how to build Guilds after Guild's originals 😉 ...

CMG borrowed several instruments from a Guild collection and used the associated measurements to design some Newark Street models as well as some models bing made in Oxnard.
