I'm late posting, but here's my Blues 90:

It's surprisingly hefty for a chambered body. I love the neck, but the pickups need to be swapped out. I need to recover from an acoustic spending spree before I take care of that, though.

What's wrong with the pickups? If they are OK and you just don't like them, I'll be happy to take them off your hands :)
Cheers

No, they work fine, they're just not to my taste: I find the bridge too hot and the neck a bit soupy.

I'll send you a PM.

Edit: can't send a PM--your box is full.

Hey all!
Just got back to the good old USA and apologize for not posting in a while. I have been in transit from Afghanistan for a while.
It is great to be home, see my wife and kids and just try to relax a little bit after a year long tour which took me through 3 continents and over 7 countries.
I haven't had time to digest it all quite yet and coming home after being away for so long is a bit overwhelming.
I will comb through the posts soon and get all the new birds listed asap.
Good to be back!
rock on!

Alright, so I am the one with the 'Amber AAA' Bluesbird. I am quite the explorer and took out the pickups for the hell of it and noticed some writing in the neck pickup cavity. It says "C/S". Does anyone have any idea what that would be for?
Here's the picture what is written in my year 2000 Bluesbird in the chamber for the 4 pots. (so a different location).
You see a 6-19-2000 date (not sure exactly which date, I guess the date when the neck was married to the body) and a "JT". The same "JT" is also written in the TRC cavity!
I have seen multiple pictures of the JT written under the TRC.
Those are the initials of Jeff T., who was a neck fitter in Westerly and worked there from 1986 to 2001.

I don't know what C/S is, have you checked the Truss Rod Cover chamber (I mean remove the TRC) what's written there? Also have you checked the potentiometer chamber?
I don't think anything is written under the pickups in my guitar.

Hello all,

I am a new member here and a new Bluesbird owner as well. I believe mine is a 2002 Bluesbird AAA with an amber finish. Serial #CM 000185. I actually have a few questions I hope can get answered as well. First, Strap Locks? Can you use them on these guitars? I noticed the the button on the bottom has a big tapered thing going on with it. Second question is, does anyone know where I might be able to find a case for these? I would prefer a Guild one, but I can't be too picky.

Brand new member here. Just found this forum today. I've had my Bluesbird at least 5 years. Bought it used from a Guitar Center on the North side of Houston. The Serial is CM000220 so I'm guessing it must be a 2002 since it's 35 after Hobbesickles? Don't know how to post pics since I don't have a web page to place them at a URL. It's a AAA quilted top, cherry sunburst. Came with the original HSC. Plays great!

Interesting. Do you have any pics? My guitar is a Texas guitar as well (Nacogdoches)!

Alright so I finally got the time to investigate everything. Nothing is written in my potentiometer chamber or under the truss rod cover. The only place I had writing was under the neck pickup. You can also see the fading where the pickup rings cover as well. I am not to sure how to date pots or anything. Can anyone say for sure if CM 000185 is a 2002 model?

@Hans: From the picture of the neck P/U chamber it is clear that Hobbesickles Corona made Bluesbird has a different chambering inside compared to my Westerly made one. Was that change done later during Corona times or immediately when Corona started producing them? I know that is probably something you don't want to answer in public before Volume II is not published, so I am fine if you don't want to answer yet. Just asking.

Guys I am working on the update to the spreadsheet tonight and will post.....
Sorry I have been a slacker! Just getting back to the world has been a bit more overwhelming than I had anticipated.
All is well and I am finally getting back into the swing of things. I have not been able to play as much as I would have liked, but I am spending some quality time with my family.
On a side note I received a PM and was wondering if anyone could help this person out. I don't have a picture yet, but will post when I can. Here is what he wrote:
"I have ,what I think is a 1967 guild bluesbird.Hollow body, gold humbuckers, gold grover tuners.I'ts black.I have never seen another like it.The serial is #dd250.I cant find a match. I will tell you the story of this guitar if you want it in your article. I will try to post a pix if I can figure this site out! Thanks in advance..."

Of course we would love to see the pictures!!

Posting the spreadsheet hopefully later tonight.....
Great to be back!

rock on
