Absolutely this. When I got home from shoulder surgery I felt fine so figured I wouldn't take the drugs unless I needed them. I woke up screaming at 3am when the nerve block wore off. I'll never do that again!
Yes, absolutely this!! The pain meds will make a huge difference in your recovery and rehab. I've known a couple of people who tried to be heroic and it didn't work out for them AT ALL!! It'll still hurt some, but being able to move and build your activity will help more than anything. Take the meds and get moving.

I had my first hip replacement after my knee replacement on the same side 8 months earlier. I thought, here we go again! But the day of surgery, in the afternoon, they had me up and about in my room. Then the next day, I got out in the hallway and went to the end and back before they'd let me go home. That's a huge motivator right there, home to my own bed and quiet!!

Also, the hip was a whole lot easier than the knee. I went to my 2 week post op visit and the doc said, "Where's your walker?" Out in the truck. "Where's your cane?" Also, in the truck. So he told me to get up and walk down the hallway and back. Then he said, "You're doing so well, PT must be doing you a world of good!" and I had to tell him that they were backed up and I couldn't go until the following week. So he asked if I wanted to go, and I said not really. So he said, "Then don't go." And I didn't, even with the other hip. The knees were a different story. PT was rough. But still not as bad as shoulders. Those are awful, I hear!! I'm sure GAD will concur.

Last I heard, he said he still had a flip phone. Mighty hard to text on them!
"Sheepishly saying" Richard is not the only dinosaur on the forum, I know that for a fact.

My wife does everything on the phone, so when I need something done, she takes care of it (sometimes begrudgingly). I have no incentive to learn. Probably like a lot us, I spend too much time on the computer. Being attached to a smart phone would not be good.

But, if the good Lord calls her before me, I am in real trouble. I'm glad she is five years younger.

My girl does everything on her phone too, and I do a fair amount of stuff on mine, but I think that computers are still better for a lot of things. It looks like I'm going to be forced into retirement in about six months or so, about a year sooner than I had planned, so I'm going to start up m old computer support business again to get me through to my "official" Social Security retirement age. Only now, I'm going to add in smartphone support for geezers. I should be fine.

I do nothing on a phone except talk and text. I even had ATT send me 2 new 5G phones since my last ones were too old to work anymore.. Mostly a tablet and PC for computer stuff.

Good money well spent was a Norton protection package with Lifelock. They monitor credit reports and reported someone trying to open a credit card in my name. Norton squashed that. I even had the bank send me a check for the amount of the crook's application fee.

That lead me to lock all my credit reports.

I love being able to do stuff on my phone!! I keep learning new stuff all the time. With my iPhone I can even use Harry Potter commands to do stuff. If I hold the button so Siri is listening, I say, "Lumos!!" and she turns my flashlight on. "Nox!" and she turns it off. :p:D(y)
