My X700 had the best amplified sound of any archtop I've ever played. Unfortunately, the 1 & 5/8 neck just killed me when I played big band. Nothing was even close soundwise when I did trio, quartet or larger. I'll get depressed if I talk about the sound in a duo with a singer. Someday we'll find a 1 & 11/16 neck one (after I recover from my divorce).

A correction: if S/N is correctly listed at Archtop.com as AK700011, then it's the 11th one made and a first year (1994) model, not a '96. (I have #16, which is still a '94)

This one's really yellowed a lot and looks great!

Actually looks very much like mine: same rediculously flamed piece of wood for the neck, coupled with somewhat plainer back and sides and an insanely tight-grained top.

Thanks, great to be here.

And thanks to kakerlak for observations on the date of the guitar. I'm not an expert by any means, but seems to me this is a 1994, not 1996, based on the serial #.

Yeah, if that # is correct, you've got the 11th one off the line and a first year 1994 model for sure. Here's some shots of #16 (mine) which have been around the block a few times:

I have a feeling you will love your new guitar!

Also, unless I'm mistaken, you now have the earliest example among members here.

LOL, yeah, it'll be an agonizing wait! You're gonna love it once it gets there though.

Very nice just to look at, I can only imagine the sound.

Hey kakerlak, if you ever get tired of that guitar of yours that appears to have defective wood on the back, sides and neck I will take it off your hands as all of those markings don't bother me that much

It does have a few "grain irregularities"

So, if this thing shipped on Monday, has it arrived yet? Looking forward to some pics (though the ones on archtop.com were nice).

Hi Guild fans! New member here.

On a whim I was browsing for Guilds and rediscovered this place. I used to have a '65 T100D and lurked here a time or 2 to learn more about it. It's gone now, but I'll post a few pics of the one I kept since viewers of this thread may find them interesting!

What a guitar!

Hope I haven't breached any protocols. Mark.
