I have to agree. Maybe it was the abundance of "substances" at Woodstock, but for me that performance is one that really should have been shorter. There's much better Alvin elsewhere.adorshki said:Funny thing, everybody raves about "Goin' Home" on Woodstock but I really only liked it for about 3 listens. My personal favorite is this obscure gem on "The First Great Rock Festivals of the '70's": "I Can't Keep From Cryin' Sometimes".
"Goin' Home"'s just an in your face Coney Island hot dog, but "Cryin's" an 8 course banquet of style and technique, a 19 minute tour de force, and even the drum and bass solos are whole class above the Woodstock solos.
I saw a couple of youtube vids of the tune, but I don't think they're that specific version of it, which was at the Isle of Wight festival.
Looks like you can hear it HERE though.
I liked some of the Ten Years After Stuff very much ("Love Like a Man", "I'd Love to Change the World",), but when I first heard that cut, I respected Mr. Lee.
Play on Alvin, you're in some fine company now.
