The best of all time!

Can any of you, excluding Two Corgis or Mgod, pick me out in the video?

Years ago, one commentator on this clip said something like, "This is what happens when you get a $5,000.00 budget to film a video but you spend $4,995.00 on icing sugar moustaches and borrow a friend's Sony Camcorder."

"Well, I always thought Moby Grape was great."

No argument from me there: as far as I'm concerned, they were hands down one of the top 5 bands to come out of SF during that era. They were definitely just about my favorite back then and I still enjoy listening to their debut album, which holds up extremely well, even today.

Unfortunately, from a legal/business/management stand point, they suffered one of the worst screw jobs imaginable. As with too many other musicians of that period, drugs and mental health issues contributed to their demise but, IMHO, their manager deserves a special place in Hell for the part he played. One has to wonder what else they might've accomplished if they had been "handled" better. I've talked to the son of one of the band members who told me that they became (understandably) very embittered about the experience.

Here are a couple of links which, for anyone who's interested, will provide some addition insights into their rise and fall:

Remember the "more cowbell!" you said you wanted?
Well, it's been there all along, just waiting for you:

Secret Oyster

Danish psychedelic Jazz/Rock/Indo Fusion

Doesn't surprise me that I never saw that cover art in any record bin in the USA back in the day. Given the nature of what was depicted, I felt compelled to go wash my hands after clicking on the "insert quotes" button...

Long ago I was in an experimental psychedelic group. We always practiced at this guy's Topanga Canyon ranch. (Later he apparently went into "healing music, lol.) He was a wild and crazy violinist; we also had a hand drummer, a bass and sax player, I played keys and 12-string, and we had a really good guitarist whose name I swear was John McLaughlin (although apparently not that John McLaughlin). As I say, it was very experimental, crazy shtuff. None of it survives.

If you're into french food, there you go! , Is that late era Psy or pre-prog-rock? Anyway, one of the 10 ugliest vinyle covers of all times.Maybe I'll go Vegan after all....("The Tofoo-fighters"!) I supposed the Gong "Pot-head Pixies" trilogy and "Fish Rising"by Steve Hillage fit here.Very psychedelic, imo!Saw them a couple of times in Orleans, hazy memories that is.Hillage was a bitchen guitarist, the drummer-Man, he played the tastiest elegant fills I've heard live (Pierre Moerlen I think his name was)- Gentle hippy madness mixed with skillful playing, some of the guys in the band had serious jazz background....This song used to take me to cloud 9 !

Lest we forget, the ladies were at it as well:

I was aware of Fanny back then, but include them here because, as far as musicianship goes, they were "the real deal". Part of the reason that June Millington developed into such a credible guitarist is that she received some tutoring and encouragement from none other that Jeff "Skunk" Baxter::

I had never heard of Fanny, until maybe a year ago (possibly slightly longer). One of the features of YouTube is that it throws up unfamiliar artists based on your viewing history. I find that a lot is not to my taste, but I was completely blown away by Fanny! They should have been massive
