Here is a like to some pictures that I took in Aspen in 2006.

This is where the 2 guitars that were once owned by John Denver were.
One is a John Greven White Lady and the other is a Custom L Series Yamaha
Go to page 3 and 4 for a few pictures of the guitars.
I took my Yamaha L20A with me and it is in one of the pictures along side of a John Denver Yamaha guitar.
The Aspen Gathering is a great experience and I hope to attend it again in the next year or so.

Looks like to me that Aspen hasn't changed all that much since I was there June 1 1987 it is still one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I do have a ? though, where are John's Guild guitars?????? Those are the ones I would love to play!!!!!!

I would hope that those guitars are in the possession of family members. This summer, two of his Taylor guitars, some guitar cases, guitar straps, and other assorted memorabilia like handwritten lyric sheets were sold at a big auction house in Dallas. These were some pretty notable guitars, used extensively in later years. There was an all-koa 6-string jumbo (K-15) and a rosewood jumbo 12-string (855). Both guitars were used in the Wildlife Concert video. I think this stuff was sold by Hal Thau, his manager. The 12-string sold for over $20k, and the 6-string for over $13k.

I think his original Yamaha L-53 sold for around $40k when it was offered for sale a number of years ago. The economy was better then, and arguably the Yamaha was a more important guitar, having been used extensively through a very visible portion of his career. No telling what one of the Guilds would be worth.

I think that Pete, who purchased the L-53, said that he paid $3200.00 for it and $32000.00 for the Greven White Lady.
That makes the Taylors a real bargain doesn't it!

I have been told that there was a Guild Artist Award series of guitars and that John Denver played them.

As I understand it, many of John's guitars are still in the posession of his family, in a secured vault.

Over the years I have heard some other rumors that are interesting.
One is that one of John's Guilds was a Maple back with a thin veneer of Rosewood over it.
Another rumor is that the old Gibson Jazz guitar, the one that John learned to play on, was cremated with him.
