Re: A focussed sound

So the complemetary question should be, and I truly don't know the answer, what does it mean when one says a guitar's sound has a nice "bloom", or tends to "bloom" ???

If I had an image of a guitar with flowers in it, I would post it here. However, that is not what I meant.

Could it be that Rosewood "blooms" while mahogany and maple are "focused" ??

Laurence Juber says that a Rosewood guitar hugs you...

"bloom" seems to always conjure up mushroom cloud imagery for me. I think of something that starts out small and grows so I would use bloom in situations where there was a lot of sustain.

Isn't using words to describe sounds helpful? Almost as amusing as the words used to describe animal sounds.
