Well, it’s that time of year to reflect on the highlights (and sometimes, lowlights) of the past year. Wanting to be in the positive mode, what are your 2011 top five best Guild Moments?

Here are mine:

1. Getting the ’82 Mark V
2. Attending LMG II & jamming with fellow LTGers
3. Joining LTG
4. Jamming with Scratch
5. Getting the ’61 Mark II (& meeting RussD & Mrs. RussD when I sold it to him)
6. Meeting Joe Pugg and getting his autograph for SoutherGuild when I
bought his ’76 dreadnought hardshell case

P.S. OK……we can list more than five. 8) :D

The top 5 Guild moments for me are acquisitions. I finally bought a Mark IV in pearwood. 2, a sweet old D25. 3, a 12 string in cherry- looks just like myD25. I'm counting the last as 2- a DV52 which will arrive tomorrow. Can't wait. I'm thinking about making a rifle rack type thing to hold them all. Happy New Year to you all.

Cool thread, ladytexan :)

With no particular order because all these moments are equally vital for me.

Here we go:
1. Discovering Guild guitars.
2. Discovering LTG and this great community of Guild-loving people ready to offer help should you need it.
3. Acquiring Guild S-300AD which gave me the first impression about 70s solidbody Guild electrics' unparalleled (for me personally) playability and fine design.
4. Acquiring my '74 M-75 which was a twofer - it introduced both a mahogany electric guitar to me as well as mighty HB1 pickups.

I'd definitely have to say that joining LTG was the best Guild moment of 2011 for me. I've not personally met anyone from the LTG but member's insight and knowledge has taught me a great deal about acoustic guitars. And then I got two wonderful instruments from killdeer, different as night and day, having magnificently unique voices.

Peace

No new Guilds this year, but some good Guild moments:

1. LTGers Graham, Cid, West & Mrs. West's April visit.
2. Meeting and jammin' with LTGer Toni (LadyTexan)
3. Gigging out with the Guilds at Ninfa's
4. Picking away evenings on the front porch
5. Countless hours on LTG

I want to see an image of this.

2011:
1. Joining LTG in 10/2010, but getting on it a whole lot more in 2011.

2. Having folks shake my hand after being on stage with the F512, and say "thats a nice Guild". Like yah, how about a little for the effort from the player, or no?

3. Opening on the main stage at the MI State Folk Music Fest, Sunday worship service. Largest audience ever, and played for free. Amazing Grace, Turn Turn Turn and others.

4. Selling a partial collection of Guild guitars, 2 to LTG members, and 2 overseas to Europe.

5. Buying a 1966 Starfire bass from a guy whose barn and house should be on the "American Pickers" show.

Holiday wishws to all,
Craig

I've got a list with only 1 entry:

In 2011, I played the guitar (seriously) for the first time in about 10 years.

It was time to set it down in 2001 and let the 90's stay in the 90's. Strange thing was I didn't really miss it. Plus, I had many great things happen in the 2000's, including moving to california, establishing my life as a visual artist and designer and perhaps closest to my soul, learning to surf.

But recently, deep inside me a hunger grew. I was ready to pick it up again.

I'm back and loving every minute of it.

1. Meeting RussD.
2. Going and trying a Martin 00-18V in the store and thinking that it is THE small body mahogany guitar to get. Then, after several days of thinking this, picking up my F30 and re-realizing it is really one magical guitar. Woody, dry, old guitar sound that is not too dull and not too bright. Sometimes I forget how great it is.

Hmmm Well having Pete 66-7 F312 arrive, and hearing its voice.....wow!
Meeting Larry Sparrow, and his Guilds, Hobo D35, G41, D100, and some others...
Meeting Larry Sparrow the Luthier who is revamping my F112...and he is good...really good.
Acquiring the 65 T100d, and getting it looking good and playable, for a song
Falling in love with my D50 everytime I play it, oh and the F512 too....
there are countless other Guild moments too of course, always making good memories... :D Steffan
