Ahem...if those pictures are of the actual guitars, it looks like somebody at least did their homework. small humbuckers, Franz pickup repros and all. I'm at the very least very, very curious to play these.

Re: Anyone have information or pictures of new Korean Guilds?

Holy sh*t Batman! I am very curious about the Guild single-coil pups on the X-175, but at that price I am very tempted! The higher end models might be a tough sell at $5K and up, but if the quality is there with the others I can see them doing well.

That new X500 with the Franz repro pickups looks like it might not suck. And I'll give the Korean guitars a chance, though I still have to admit I'd be very pleasantly suprised if "they pulled it off" at those prices.

Very cool all of those guitars, whether it's the US Custom Shop ones, or the Korean guitars, actually look like Hoboken ones (body shapes, etc...), and they don't seem to have generic Gibson style pickups.

The bottom line is you either compete or you get out. Change is inevitable, and Guild doesn't have a choice. Personally, I would love to see the Korean models do well, and I would love to see the higher end models get some big-name endorsements as well. While I will still lust after the GSR's and the vintage models, and will likely buy more over time, I can see myself buying an X-175 from the Newark St. Collection as an inexpensive guitar to lug around with less worries. Go Guild!

So two lines , the MIA "American Patriarch" & the MIK "Newark Street Series".

It seems they both have the "Frequency Tested" single coils which I am assuming are the same Franz repros used on the recent GSR models. For about $1k, the Newark St Aristocrat could be very interesting (it looks to have the same pickups but not fully spelled out in it's specs).

I would have preferred a 43mm neck but I guess 42mm is not a bad compromise & is actually wider than the "American Patriarch" series', 1.627" (41.3mm) necks.

Guild Custom Shop?

Ok, don't care what they call NH, as long as it's open and building guitars. Nice to see that they got the shapes right and interested in the pups too.
I would rather have the properly shaped Franz covers on the T-500.

Guess there is not much more to report from NAMM for me now on Thursday and Friday, except a couple of live pictures maybe...

The NH made "Custom Shop" Aristocrat looks great, exactly like my 56 one with the plain G headstock! They even copied the knobs! According to the spec the hardware is also gold plated. Bridge/saddle is wooden like the originals.

2013 is the best year for guilds since 1993.

A for effort.

I'll be shopping for USA made, but the mini guild HBs on that S-100 are definitely interesting......

And this is the second Aristocrat, the lower priced MIK one:
M-75VS.jpg

More an end 50ies style.

And the MIK Starfire IV: (with "periode incorrect" 50ties TRC shape)

And the MIK Starfire III:

The pickup on the bass is interesting to say the least ...

They call it "a single powerful Guild® "Bi-Sonic" bass pickup".

Did you notice that the bass has the old 60ies "Starfire" TRC?

P.S. Price list?
Since ths is mainly the MIK thread, the electric guitar prices (list and street) were in the link Walter posted: http://www.lamusic.ca/SearchResults.asp ... d+electric
I have not found the acoustic prices yet.
Ralf
Oops....didn't see the that....sorry..... I'm gonna edit my post and re-submit on the 2013 NAMM thread (which I'm sure there will be one).

Thanks......

There's obviously somebody who's having a lot of fun with Photoshop!

I've seen more impressing ones though!

Sincerely,
