Thanks Hobo. That's interesting that your '61 M20 lower bout is a shade under 13 1/2". My '59 M20, like Jeffs older F20, is a hair under 13 3/4". Unfortunately that case won't work for me either, but its good to know. Taking a quick peak at Hans' book, apparently there were changes made in the size of the lower bout on the M20's during the course of their manufacture years.

Oh and welcome!

What to do ?? The case or the guitar.

300px-

NEVER the guitar!!!!!!!!

thanks for the welcome.

sorry to say I am away from my sweet guitar right now, but I will measure to confirm its size. I recall seeing the size warning after I ordered the case and I fretted (sic) up to the time it was delivered.

judging by her screen name, I am in the same town as Sausgirl and would be happy to meet at the Cafe Trieste just so I can say I've met another person lucky enought to play a m-20.

You are right!
I am in Sausalito Ned.
My M20 measures 13 3/4" that's why a 0 size doesn't fit.
I would love to meet you at the Cafe' Triest, but I have a cold and don't want to make you sick.
Dave and Seth will be picking up my case tomorrow.
See ya later,
Jan

I hope you feel better.

I grew up in sausalito and am here now taking care of my aging parents. I'll likely be around through christmas and perhaps the new year. If you are feeling up to it, please send me a message.

best to you,

Ned

Well friends,
It turns out Ned and I grew up in the same town.
I know his parents and his Mother and I studied music together-she plays a mean piano.
Hopefully we will get together while he is here.
Now on to the case.
I watched as my husband carried it down the front stairs and I carried it into the house and downstairs into the bedroom.
I put it on the bed next to the TKL case the M20 came in and knew immediately,
it was the wrong size :x
So I will be taking it back and ordering another or getting a refund.
I will update you on my progress.

I look forward to catching up with you Jan.

Turns out the lower bout on my m20 is just a shade under 13 3/4 and the case I linked to above fit perfectly. As I mentioned, I removed the endpin. There is room for the end pin but the guitar would need to be tipped bout first into the case and based upon the sad thread on the black 12 string, removing the pin might not be such a bad ideal.

I bet you'll be delighted. the case is pretty nice and there is a little wiggle room hiding in that plush.

My folks were pleased to hear your name and recieve your good wishes.

I just looked up the specs on the Chinese GAD F 20. It's 13 3/4 across the lower bout

Model Name GAD-F20E

Unique Features

24-3/4" Scale Length,
13-3/4" Lower Bout,
Flame Maple Binding,
Dovetail Neck Joint,
Scalloped Spruce Braced Top,Mother-of-Pearl Headstock Logo,
Mother-of-Pearl Dot Position Inlays,
Cream Colored Bridge Pins with Black Dots,
Bone Nut and Saddle,
Tortoise Shell Pickguard,
Factory Installed Forward Strap Button with Internally Braced Support

Includes Deluxe GAD Hardshell Case

GAD cases are pretty sexy.

Guild's site doesn't list a price for the GAD F20 yet, wonder what the street price will be.

Here's kind of a sweet looker advertised in England for 499 British, about a $1000, I guess

Hi all.
I looked up the Guild sites I linked to and they sent me a mini-jumbo/F47!
So......
I will call this morning and see if I can get it changed to a M20.
If not,I am getting in touch with Elderly or finecases and see what comes closest.
"Tune in for our next scheduled program".

jeff,

from earlier post here, Buffalo bros. has a gad f20 on their site. someone from here called on it and it was $550. Don't know if that included a case...

Ned

edit: here is a link and a phone number. they say it is in stock. You will destroy trade relations with the far east if you put it in the same room as your 57 however....

can't find the original post here but $550 is a pretty clear recollection

Wow!
Deja deja vu!
Well friends nothing happened like forever!
So I was doing some errands in April, and went to the candy store.
I played a nice little GAD M20-beautiful chocolate brown hog and a really nice sound, but not as seasoned as my 67 M20!
They still didn't have the case so.....they gave me the GAD M20 case with a word"it probably won't fit".
NOT!
So I finally have a case to fit the guitar.
Pics to follow.
BTW-don't hold your breath on getting a case-they are on a slow boat from China.
Does anyone know where I can get cream bridge pins/end pin for my guitar?
Great to see you all again!
Jan
