Hey guys, just registered. Anyway after lusting for one of these if finally pulled the trigger and bought an 02 x-160. The playability is awesome and she sounds great. Anyone else on this board own one of these. What are your thoughts? Any upgrades i can do? I am also awaiting pup spacers to get the bridge a little closer to the strings. I read that some people think there is not enough definition between the bridge and neck pickups but mine seems to have lots. Anyway here are some pics.

Welcome, gusto!

There are, indeed, a few Rockabilly owners here. I only wish I was one. :) I'm sure one will show up soon.

Q: Was the pinup girl factory installed or your own customization? :D

Post well. Post often.

The pinup decals are available on ebay, Guildmark. They're very popular on the Gretsch forum, particularly for customizing the Electromatic series. Those guitars are a great deal for the buck.

Welcome Gusto ! I have one since half a year, and it's fabulous. I get so many great sounds from this one, it became my main live guitar. Enjoy it !

Great looking guitar Gusto, congratulations! I need another hollowbody like I need a hole in the head, but I have to admit I'm still lusting after a black X160Rockabilly...

Caveman, I still have to check out yours, I'm SO curious! Glad to see you're liking it though!

Thanks for the replies. So has anyone had the need to put a pickup spacer on your hollowbodies?

Hey, I'm sure you could find your sound Mark. I've never had the chance to play a Dearmond or a (gasp) p-90, but I'm intrigued.

Congratulations! I bought one of these new in 2000 & thought it was surely the one guitar I'd never part with. Alas, a wild hair put it on ebay a few months ago & by the time I came to my senses it was too late to end the auction. Happily, I acquired another one a couple of weeks ago & I'm, once again, in love with a guitar. Same color, called Fiesta Red, I believe. Nothing else sounds quite so good, especially plugged in & the neck is like butter, just the way I like it. Hold on to it; it's a definite keeper!

Gusto,

I just registered, but have own an X-160 rockabilly for a couple of years now. Its a great guitar. The only modification I made was to remove the pick guard so that more of the archtop would show.

I practice in front of the mirror just so I can look at it while I play.

Congrats on a great purchase
