made u look!

I am on the hunt for what is most likely a somewhat uncommon bird. a *mahogany top Guild 12.

either a:

D-15-12 (which I know exists, not sure how many)

or

D-4-MAH-12 (no idea if this exists)

or

a D-25-12 from either Corona, or possibly elsewhere, which would feature a full/solid mahogany top- such a guitar may also have a flat back, but possibly arched...if either exists at all...

typically I prefer flat back over arched/bowled...but in this case will sacrifice design preferences for the tone I am hoping to discover, with a 12-string mahogany top.

So I am looking for the D-15-12 or similar...

maybe I have overlooked a model, or maybe I will need to expand the options to some non-Guilds as well (is that even legal here, for a 12-string???)

whattaya got??

THANK YOU

-MU

This guitar may have been discussed not too long ago on LTG...
you sure as hell won't see many D17-12s! No affiliation, other
than lusting more than a little over this one...

thanks very much all, yes I am considering the D-15-12 on Reverb, or possibly a D-17-12 at a more reasonable price.

with luck I was hoping to find something somewhat local, enough that I can drive to it at least, and/or a trade...

to be continued...cheers all!

That D125-12 (GAD series, MIC) Archie linked to and which GJM gave a thumbs-up to, is an all-hog flatback.
Domestic D25 production ended in Corona when the GADD25 replaced it, continuing the all-hog flatback formula, and that D125-12 was the second generation GAD model.
I don't think Corona ever made a 12-string version when they revived the all-hog flatback formula for 2 years before the GAD line was introduced.
At least I'm sure I've never seen one.

Al and Archiestone, thanks very much, that is a nice looking GAD D-125-12, and perhaps what I should be on the hunt for.
the seller says in SF CL add it is on consignment and will not ship. but *thank u* for pointing this out. I will find one of those locally, and at least play it, if not snag one. still interestd in the Westerlys as well, I just need to be careful with acoustics

holding off as eluded to on another thread. the USA's have arch backs, id have to find a closet queen to fall in love with one of those. the imports are heavy poly, id consider one but would need to make a trade or get a crazy deal on one. for now any mahogany back and side 12 string, even with a spruce top, seems to be closer to the tone im chasing, than the fancy stuff. one day i'll land a mahogany top, now that I know whats out there, but holding off for now. thanks all!

D4-12 for entry level pricing and likelihood of being young enough to be problem-free.
"HR" finish IS NCL, but I've seen one new member insist recently that his "satin" finish is poly.
First I ever heard of that on a Westerly "true" flattop, and while I'm still a bit skeptical and in the absence of input from Hans, I can say that D4's did get a lot of finish experimentation over the years, but primarily in unusual colors.
AhA! I just noticed there's a DV52"Satin" in the "01 list, same as D4, and I can't believe they'd use poly on a DV52, period.
I think they just replaced "Hand-rubbed" with "Satin" in name only.

thanks guys the Delaware guitar appears to have a neck/headstock repair, and the D4 has an arched back. niether are for me. when talking about spruce tops, there are many, many options.

I just scored a 1970 F-112 that is getting some refurbishment by my luthier. but the neck and headstock are clean, neck is straight, neck angle and frets are great, so im looking forward to that in a few weeks when I get her back.

Good catch on the repair on the DE guitar - didn't see it.

Congrats on the F-112.
