My '58 F-20 has the original chipboard case - which is great for authenticity, but it is a total POS. I need something better to keep it in. Ideally, I'd like one of those 60's F-20 cases with the brown faux alligator covering and Guild badge... 8) But if anybody has anything else, or other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

I actually like the SKB line of cases, and that is what I use for my D-55. Why ? A couple of reasons:

1. I like the hardshell plastic covering. I think it offers better protection that the laminated wood / cardboardy feeling and looking other stuff.

2. I like the aluminum channel that goes around the case opening. I think this offers more protection, plus way better closure to seal from dust, dirt or rain.

3. It's the same cases that Martin uses for it's high end guitars - so if It's good enough for Martin it should be good enough for most anything.

4. They are not expensive, and nice and light. Musician's Friend carries a good number of SKB cases (as well as everything else under the sun in cases).

That's it.

Mr. BeeZee.

Buy GAD F-20, give guitar to appreciative relative / friend for Christmas and retain case !!

Seriously though, extraordinarily difficult to find ( I think Jeff might have ? ). Several members here, including myself, are looking for the very same thing !

Seems to be the "Holy Grail" of cases.

A while back I was looking in earnest for one, not so much anymore. I have resigned myself to a "close fit" OO Martin case with a small towel tucked at the end pin to keep it snug when traveling. Does the job.

At the time I checked there was no SKB case that was an exact fit, maybe that has changed.
Agreed that they are great cases. Just wish one would fit an M20 / F20 precisely.

I like the idea of buying a GAD M20, keeping the case, and sending the guitar on its way. Nothing against the GAD m20, just wouldnt need two parlor size hog gits in the stable. I also like the look of those retro tweed cases. I'm just waiting for some of the used GAD M20's to hit the bay at a nice lowball price.

This is what I came up with as criteria for a "precise' fit for my '59 M20:
Upper bout 10 3/8"
Lower bout 13 3/4"
Overall length 39"
Body length 18"

Good luck in the hunt!

Hmmm......just realized........my m20 turned 50 this year! 8)

Yep, appears F20/M20's are a unique size & no one I could find builds a case to fit. (I looked for a long long time).

I tried to rersearch the cases that come with the Chinese GAD M & F20's, The cases come with the guitars from China, Fencer/Guild has no part number for the case alone.

Another member bought an M 20 & somehow talked her local music store into separating the case from a GAD, selling her the case alone. She later sold the guitar but kept the case & advertised it here., I bought less than 10 minutes after she listed it. The only one I've ever seen.

It's a good fit.

I saw a small body guitar in a Calton case in Arlington, twas a very nice fiberglass case, obviously very expensive. Researching Calton's website, they'll make a case to any specifications. I suspect you'd need to prepare yourself for sticker shock.
