Looking to buy a Hoboken made mark v, vi, or vii guitar. needs to be in vg-ex condition. any leads out there? I have a mark vi and the sound is wonderful- really great, and looking to acquire another one as a backup... thanks for letting me know!

If you limit yourself to Hoboken only, lots of patience will be required. Honestly, my '74 Mark V (made before Carlo Greco left in 1976) is a superior instrument to the '61 Mark VI I used to own.

There is a Mark V for sale on the SF Craig's List. No affiliation. Don't think this is a Hoboken model though.

I know you don't realize it, but that guy has been trying to sell those guitars for probably 15 years. He has asked outrageous $$$ for the Mark V and Mark VI. I think $3500 for the V and maybe $6000 for the Mark VI. Both of them have been played with a pick. I sure do! I still can't figure out why @chazzan doesn't just buy the Mark V at Music Go Round. I'm sure it's a great guitar, and an even better price. It would be a no-brainer for me if I was looking.
two corgis: I did buy the mark V at the music go round- the bridge was pulling off the top badly, unbelievably bad- I sent it back- it hard to reglue a bridge on a cedar top without marking- besides the bridge was warped- they did nt give me any hassle about taking it back at all- and the guy knew there was a problem with the bridge, just didn't mention it in the listing!
I talked to the craigslist guy- lol he seems like a crackpot- not a nice or trustful person to deal with!

I wasn't aware either that you had bought it, or that it had had a bad bridge reglue. Sounds like a hack luthier job to me. My gut has reglued the bridge on two of my cedar topped guitars and they came out perfectly. I'm surprised that's even a cedar top. Most of the later Mark Vs were spruce.

You might want to post this on the Mark V link -- there was defintiely some interest in the guitar; might be useful to anyone thinking of buying.
its one thing if a bridge is pulling up very slightly, but the bridge on the mark v from the music go around was separated from the top almost 1/4 inch deep! I told them that's unacceptable and they just gave me a refund and a return shipping label...
