How many of you like a wrapped third string on your startfire, 4, 5, or 6? I think a set of 11 guage is the lightest available with a wrapped third. But JustStrings.com has single 16 guage ghs steels, which I put into a regular set of 10 guage steels. It makes this grandmother so enraptured with rapt attention that she sings a song about it.

When I had a Starfire (both a II and a IV), I liked these strings, and I like them now on my X-50. They are lighter than 11 gauge, and sound great. I have only been able to find them on-line - amazon, musiciansfriend, and I'm sure I saw them on juststrings, too.

A wound third is essential for me. The plain string is too loud to balance with the lower 3 strings, and I tend to play clean-ish and in the lower to middle range of the guitar, and don't do big bends, so I'd much rather have the consistent tone and balance. Also several of my main guitars (inc. 2 of my Guilds) have nonadjustable wooden bridges which are cut for a wound third.

I wish it was possible to make tiny little wound strings for the top two strings so they would sound more like the rest of the set.
