I'm getting surprised at the low price a used GAD50 gets, which represents an amazing dreadnought value. I used to think a Martin D-15 was the way to go with a used guitar, or perhaps a Guild D-25, if that sound is right for you, but the GAD50 prices are fabulous.

It's my guess that, perhaps following Blueridge's lead, the Guild GAD series prices will bump up, due to energy costs, etc., going up.

Yeah, it's just a practical guitar, something you can lug around, not obsessively worry about, but all in all a great, deeper than usual sound for a guitar in this price range. I bluegrass, so it's nice not having to worry about crashing your guitar into something and being out big bucks.

Not only that, but there is an awful lot of GADs showing up on Ebay and Craigslist for sale. Takes away from any value they may have had when they were new. A low resale value. Good for those who just want a guitar to play, and not spend big bucks. Bad if you want to resell it.

My fave is still that little GAD F-30 cutaway with the Padouk back and sides. Lightweight, small, pretty. It was actually louder than the new D-40 the other guy was playing as we were jamming at the local guitar shop.

If you buy used at a low price, it's not bad if you resell. You'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid for it.

I agree; there is a special value when you buy a good guitar at a cheap price. If you like it, then it's a bonus. If you don't, well, you didn't pay that much for it, and yes, you can sell it for about what you paid for it.
It's a bummer when you pay top dollar for something, like I did for a '92 D-55, and it just doesn't float your cork like one of your other, less fancy guitars does, or did.
The D-55 was a great guitar, the main thing I didn't like about it, was the low frets. And - something only a true musician can understand - it just didn't inspire me to play as much as my D-50 did.
So I ended up selling it to a friend of mine, but that is another post.
