Okay, I know, it's a weird question

But here's the deal. Back in the 90's I bought an American Gretsch Duo Jet reissue case for a '50's Duo Jet project I was working on. I sold the guitar and kept the case (go figure). So, it's been sitting around all these years. It won't fit a Les Paul (can't remember why). Anybody know if an M75 or any of the Aristo' family will fit????

Grot,

I went up to the studio this afternoon and put a LP Jr in the Gretsch case. The Junior not only fit in the Duo Jet case, it went for a swim!!! Interestingly, the Junior was a little smaller in the lower bout and a lot smaller in the upper bout.

Checking on the net, Les Paul spec: 12.75"W x 17.25"L x 1.75"D

Gretschguitars.com Duo Jet spec: 13.25" x _______ x 1.75"D

According to Hans' book, M75s are: 13.5"W x 17.25"L x 2"D

So, maybe an M75 would fit, if the case was a bit loose in the depth and width department.........

I know from experiance that most M75's will not fit in a Les Paul case but that a few do. I can't remember what model I had but it fit in a Les Paul case. It may have been the early 1970 solid body version or one of the late 1960's models. If I remember correctly the M75 Bluesbirds that came out in 1967 were essentially left over Aristocrats and some time in 1968 they were changed into the new models.

This may or may not help. The case I finally got for my Dearmond M75T is a Gretsch. I believe for the duo jet, but am not 100 percent sure. Definitely larger than a LP. I don't know how the Dearmond version compares to an original M75. The M75t lower bout fits not too bad in the gretsch case ... there's some room left in the upper bout.
