Wes...my good friend...this kid is wearing a ventilated baseball hat backwards, over his ears, but we are supposed to take him seriously? Sorry, but...

I am obviously NOT his targeted audience.

Good voice, reasonable player...
Hey, he's just a local kid. He also owns a very lucrative business in the area.😊 He's a petroleum land man and a home builder. Gosh Bill, if I didn't listen to folks because I wouldn't dress like them, I'd miss out on a whole bunch of great music.

Funny you mention that though, the first time I saw the Youtube rendition of "Cover Me Up" by Morgan Wallen, I said to myself....."Oh gosh......a mullet"!:D But then I listened, and loved it.

Sandy, but this version.

Sadly the Fairport version is overwrought. One of the few times RT didn't reign himself in enough.

Side vere: if Sandy Denny passed after a fall, who was it that was hit by a motorboat while vacationing? Not a contest, just find I am mixing up Sandy with some other singer...thanx!

Judy has the voice of an angel absolutely.
There is something unadorned and direct about Sandy's voice that puts her over the top.

I tried to level the playing field by posting two "live" performances, but its really not "level" to me.
Will not say more in order not to bias the consideration...

Tough comparison, these versions are so different.
Nanci's introspective reading, and Bette's bravura performance show two sides of an excellent song.
I'm more familiar with Bette's and I had to resist just going for that one, but--
draw.

@Bill Ashton GREAT job giving us both LIVE versions!! And it's funny because as much as I love Nanci, I've never thought her voice suited this song. Not sure why. She does a wonderful job singing the song, and I'm a huge fan, but like GG, I'm going to have to give this one to Bette!! That was fun!!

(Note listener sensibility discretion advised):

I'm for the Breed, the horns and chorus are maggers. The Outsiders was a nice surprise and I simply couldn't resist Gilla. (Hope her daddy's not Godzilla)

(Ooohhhhh....song title!)

I am sorry I have been delayed getting back to my post...

The one version I did not listen to was the original composer of the tune.

Bette ruled the airwaves with this song, rightly so, but even in the live version I find it too "overpowering."

To me, watching Nanci do this is like watching your daughter sing it during an open mike, and she gets my vote ;)

RIP Nanci, we really miss ya
