I have a friend that I was talking to over the weekend.
We started talking about 12 string guitars and the subject came up about the Jumbo Rosewood Guilds.
So what model and year would you call the BEST?
Also how hard is it to find one and what would it cost?

F512. Any years except 2002 - 2004... Prices can vary based on condition from around 1400.00 for average condition to 2200.00 or so for a new Tacoma built... Bing can probably work on that price with an LTG buyer in good standing. Good shape Westerly 512s run between 1400.00 to 1800.00 as recently seen on Gbase, Elderly Instruments and eBay...

No, no J512, TMG. Not that I know of.

The JF55 is the same as the F512, by the way, if you're on the hunt.

I'm a huge fan of the F512, but the question of "best" is always a subjective one. To me, however, the F512 is king.

Other than custom ones, aren't there only two Guild rosewood 12's, the 312 and the 512?

The G312 is a rosewood dread 12. The F312 was rosewood too, dreadnut, but it was not a jumbo. I think it was roughly 16".

So what was wrong with the 2002/2004 models?

Nothing "wrong" with them, those were the Corona years and there were some quality issues. However I had a Corona F512 that was very, very nice indeed.
