Here's a question for all of you long time Guild players. I want to purchase a used rosewood dread that has a real low end rumble and packs plenty of volume. Which model is it,and how much should an uninformed Guild wannabe expect to pay?
Thanks!

Dadgum Ken, I saw the top of that '80 and really perked up, then I saw the back.

Yeah, probably Ken, I don't know....the back looks like it caught fire and was put out with an ice pick.

Effin, Jay's even has those knobby things, what are they for?

Those are for next year at Arlington, so when Graham records the playing, you can turn it up loud enough so you can actually hear it.  :D   :p

My two cents worth of opinnion is:

1. The D55, new (Tacoma), newer(Corona) or older(Westerly), is the best guitar deal hands down, on the market today. You just can't go wrong owning one of these babies. This is one nice guitar.

2. The rosewood F50R may be slighty more bassy and slightly louder than the D55, but not by much. The strength of the D55 is its beautiful piano like tone with rich complex overtones. I have yet to hear a guitar that can match its midrange tones.

3. Some will disagree with me on this but I have never heard a loud Guild guitar. Volume wise, Martin has it all over Guild.

Good luck with your search.

What?

Just curious here, maybe some of you recording 'experts'....is there any software/shareware or whatever that Grammy could use that would act like a preamp or compressor to help raise the audibility/volume of his recordings before he uploads them :?:

Any new or used D-55, except from the Corona days.

However, my hat goes off to . . . The D-50.

A new D-50 from Tacoma is just about the finest sounding dreadnought on the market.

Oh; you said used . . . alright, then a D-55, or D-50. From the Westerly days, preferably pre-90's.

Alright gents, I love the D-55 as well, yet many on this forum seem to be excited about the DV-52; though none have recommended it on this thread. I'm curious. What's the difference D-55 vs DV-52. I 've never had a chance to see or play a DV-52.

Doesn't a DV-52 qualify as a response to the original thread question?

I did mention the DV-52, this is just like being at home, and I also second the nomination.

Fabulous guitar, I guess 1 step below the 55 in bling but a couple steps below in cost.

Yes you did Graham. DUH  My bad. Thanks. Are the D-55 and DV-52 tonally similar?

Hmm, I think from the 55s I have played , which is only 2, that they are more balanced, more even. Nothing was too on them you know. Not too bassy, not too mid range, they were very nice to play. My 52 is more bassy. I can say that now as my wife has taken it for hers and I play the JF-30 now, so the RW is most certainly heard.
