I may be in the wrong fourm area, but what was the blue Guild that is in so many of the Bee Gees videos, and bio show, played by Barry Gibb?
Very thin body, no visible controls, cutaway, acoustic electric.
Model #, years made, how many, orginal price, avg cost now,( I saw nothing like it on e bay).looks like a nice rock guitar.
Watched their bio on the Bio channel last nite. These guys really liked their Guilds, one segment featured, what appeared to be two D55s.
Dale.

If the blue one was an acoustic electric, it was probably an S4CE. They actually made one called an S4CEBG. The BG stood for Barry Gibb, and I would assume it was made to some specification he had, maybe just the blue color. I think it was a "Limited Edition". I've seen a couple of them pop up online in the past. They were built somewhere around '97 or '98. Hans will know for sure.

Well here is what I know...

Barry Gibb plays a Guild Songbird, painted metallic blue, probably from the late 80's early 90's. You can tell from the body depth, the white binding on the sides and volume and tone knobs that it is a Songbird and not a S4-CE. I think he also plays red and black Songbirds.

At the end of 1997 Guild came up a Barry Gibb Limited Edition off of its then current S4-CE. If you check Harmony Central there is a little story about how Guild ran a contest in 1997 and presented the winner with a S4-BG at the November 1997 MGM Grand concert. I think it was officially released at the Winter NAMM in show Jan 1998. As far as I can tell he doesn't, or least didn't at that time, play his limited edition S4-BG.

This release holds true to my 1997 and 1998 Guild Catalogs. S4-BG doesn't appear in 1997 but it is there 1998. My 2000 catalog still shows the S4-BG.

As for me, I wouldn't consider myself a big BeeGees fan, but I do like my S4-BG.

And since I can't pass up an opportunity to post a pic...

Hope this helps!
