Today is one of our rare "off" days. When you have your own business, there aren't too many of those. I was digging out some different guitars to play with and it occurred to me that I have a number of different style guitars, but more of some types than others. In looking closer, it appears Dreadnaughts are number one for me and then OMs and probably archtops come in third.
My first good guitar was a HD 28 and I have since added many Guild dreads and a D-18 I inherited. I like dreads, maybe because they are such a quintessential instrument, but also because they feel good and sound good.
I'd be curious to hear what style, shape, guitar others find to their liking.
Cheers and happy 4th!

For acoustics, I still like dreads. The F-style Guilds are strong contenders, though.

I'd have to go with the F style jumbos, probably mostly because my F-50 was my only six string for at least 30 years. I admit I've been playing my D-50 more recently, though.

It could be all the time spent playing a dread but I really like them. Jumbos hurt my right shoulder the most. Now I like my parlor guitar. I don't think a guitar can be more comfortable than a 12 fret parlor guitar. However, dreads seem far more versatile or at least more balanced. I would love to spend some time with a guitar with a built in "bevel" that acts as a... Cutout I guess, for the right arm to make it more comfortable. I have played one or two of those but haven't lived with one long enough to know if it is really the magic bullet I hope it to be. Jumbos are the worst. Usually, I have to play my JF30-12 standing up or my right shoulder starts to ache. I wonder how much more comfortable it would be if that guitar came with a bevel?

Guild F-30, Martin 000, Gibson L-00 size for ergonomics - I like the sound too!

I also like the sound of the Guild F-50 and Gibson J-200 body size... but shoulder
issues have gotten in the way.

For acoustics, dreads for sure - I find them much more comfortable to play, especially seated.

For electrics, I've always been in love with a Florentine cutaway - ever since I was a kid gawking in music shops...

I'm with Frosty on the comfort thing. For years it was all about dreads, but alas, the shoulders now creak and I've gone to more comfortable sizes.

The OM, 000, and Folk bodies are much more comfortable these days and when combined with forward shifted bracing, there's no loss in volume/punch...

What I have the most of is Dreads.

However, my fav shape (and also my favorite acoustic guitar) is my '76 F-50SB. I just LOVE everything about it!

I'm a dread guy and always will be for a variety or reasons, not the least of which are comfort and the punch they offer.

6, that is a beautiful F50!

I prefer a good folk shaped guitar, and the size I am swayed to is the 000/OM body. A good all around guitar with nice balance for what I do. Dreads provide more depth, but the size and shape never really appealed to me.

My modest herd includes a parlor, a 000/OM, two square shoulder dreads, a slope shoulder dread and a F size 12 string. So I guess that makes me a dread guy, but with a slight preference for the Gibby slope shoulder. I love the visuals of a Jumbo. But, like others on the forum I find them a bit of a handfull to play.

That's my story too... I'm usually playing the Starfire or the X150 but when I reach for a flat-top it's the 000. It doesn't have the big sound of my Braz D50, but it's got a nice tone and balance and is easier on the shoulder.
