It's the oft-maligned Guild Humbucker that replaced the Bisonic circa 1970 and was the bass PU for the Starfire, JS and M-85 until circa 1977. I would never compare it to a soapbar and the pictures are confusing since it is shown on some kind of rectangular stand that seems to be about twice the dimensions of the PU itself. I'd say it is the neck position PU because with the two mounting screws on the bass side of the instrument, that puts the pole pieces closest to the neck which is the correct orientation.
