Here's a Gruhn/Walker D-60 in glorious sunburst. And a bemused pup.

The guitar's finish is a bit more towards the red side than appears in that photo.

Many guitars... but a one dog man, I am.

The guitar's OK, I guess, but I really love your dog! What a great face! That look! I've seen him before here and there and he's definitely a keeper.

Tell him I said WOOF!

I own a D60.

I agree with everyone -- at $1200 - it's a buy.

I think there were only approximately 300 of the Gruhn/Walker D60's made.

The guitar is from 1988 and I bought it used. It is a very responsive guitar, with an even tone across the strings and up and down the neck like a D-55. But I would say it can be played louder than any D-55 I have owned. Just seems to have more potential in that department. A fine example of a top shelf guitar from Guild, or any maker for that matter.

There is an under saddle transducer, endpin jack and two knobs mounted on the side by the neck heel. One knob is volume, the other is a stacked pot for bass/treble. I have no idea when that was installed in the guitar (factory, after).

I acquired the guitar in mint condition almost as if it had never been played. No noticeable fret wear on what looks like the original frets. Nothing like pick scratches on the top or anything. Kind of amazing.

I just looked up the VG Price Guide for 2009 and Firebird would have gotten the guitar at a discount for $1200. Maybe he did..? We haven't heard from him... maybe he's been bonding with his new D60! :)

Frosty, sounds like you're describing the Fishman AGP system, good chance it was a factory installation. One of the Westerly guys could probably give you more info.
