Help, my nut is stuck and I can't get it out! You just keep tapping on them, pull 'em out with plyers? I've tried vice grips, tapping, pushing, pulling, cursing etc. This thing has only been undisturbed for almost 30 years. It's plastic and I hate to get too rough with it. Any tricks?

Nevermind...got that baby to come out. Gentle scratch across front and back with a razor knife, then a gentle tap on the fretboard side, she peeled right back.

BTW Gard, that's a great article. I've read some Fret Not stuff in the past. After reading it, I discovered that mine was in a channel! :D I accidentally removed it just like they illustrate.

Thanks guys,

West

Usually a gentle scratch will do it. I haven't tried the razor thing.

Big Bends Nut Sauce, a lubricant, I'm told is the ticket for sticky nuts. Supposed to be magic stuff, works on saddles too. Don't know if it's edible.

Not all that practical for nut removal.

They got T shirts & hats & it comes in a handy applicator.

Jeff, Have you used the "nut sauce?" I have heard of it, but don't like experimenting with my Guilds... I have also heard of rubbing the string slots with pencil lead... but don't really want to smear black grapihite all over... Dave

Dave, I have some of the nut sauce & had coffee with one of the owner/founders of the company. They live relatively local. It's great stuff & I've used it pretty regularly. Unlike a lot of other lubes, this stuff stays where you put it!

You mean the saddle?

I would only let someone who has experience mess with my nuts.

Don, do you stock it? I've replaced the nuts on 3 of 5 of my dreads... and they can be a bit sticky at times... can really be a bit of a pain in combo with the old 3-on-a-plate tuners of the D-35 and D-25. I have thought off and on about trying to lubricate the nuts... but haven't heard others experiences. Dave

No. The bottle I have is a few years old as well. Lasts a long time! This came up years ago on the old forum & Brent somehow came across the thread. I had mentioned maybe looking them up for a sample since I drove by on my way to & from work every day & he emailed me about getting together. Nice guy, great sauce!
