On the way home, I stopped in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, hoping to photograph the rare and elusive Montezuma Quail. After dinner and close to dark I was in position at a small waterhole, waiting.

Surprise!

I was eventually surrounded by 18 of these wild pigs, including two youngsters. We "enjoyed" 20 minutes together, with lots of sniffing and snorting...them, not me. :D

Wow! Very impressive! How'd you get them all to smile? :D

Joe

Well, Corgis just kinda do that naturally, just like their longer-legged cousins Samoyeds

Joe, looking at Scratch's dog's ears and expression, he's either extremely friendly, or ready to sever your hand.
Are you still able to play?
Cool looking dog! :D

When I stopped to visit Scratch, I got to meet Casey, too.

Used to have a Samoyed named Snow. Sweet dogs!

Joe

Isn't he nice!

They don't call 'em "Smilin' Sammies" for nothing! Hey Scratch, how do Samoyeds do in the Texas Hill Country heat? I'd think that they'd do better in the cold.

And I'm still playing.
Joe
I had a hint that was the answer.......
The most frustrating part about looking at that pic, is not being able to pet that big fur ball. (The dog  ).

Gave Kacey his last trim of the year last week after you left, Joe. Close trimming helps him get through the hot Tejas summers. His hair will look more Sammy-like as winter approaches. Constant obedient companion; all around great dog...

He's a super buddy, BP. Rescued kacey as an orphaned puppy from the Canyon Lake Animal Shelter four years ago. Our granddaughter, Maddie was three at the time and when we took the little ball of white fur out for a walk, he fell in at Maddie's heels and immediately won us over with his warmth. Never needs a leash, always at our side ready to love or be loved...

At this point, of all the dogs I've loved, he's #2 behind all-star Cocker, Stormy (1991-2004) who could equal any dog memorialized in any book or any movie.

Apologies to Kacey for misspelling his name.

**Loving the way this thread has gone from wild pigs to dogs we love!
