On the way home, I stopped in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, hoping to photograph the rare and elusive Montezuma Quail. After dinner and close to dark I was in position at a small waterhole, waiting.

Collared Peccary, a.k.a. Javelina
I was eventually surrounded by 18 of these wild pigs, including two youngsters. We "enjoyed" 20 minutes together, with lots of sniffing and snorting...them, not me.
