As the title suggests I purchased 3 NOS 12AJ6 low voltage 12v tubes made to be used in car radios and since car radios have long since gone solid state and the collector value of the radios these were used in appears to be nonexistent they are quite cheap. I built a basic gain stage this weekend to test to see if it would have enough oomph to even boost a basic guitar signal and though my build appears to have a issue with RF and whine which I suspect is from the 12v switching power supply I used to test it I was glad to find that it did drive the signal to a moderately overdriven sound.

The schematic for the build. Will rework the power supply to use a MXR 18vdc 2a adapter made for the power brick and use a 12v regulator and some smoothing caps which will hopefully make the circuit behave better
