Looking for a bridge for the D44 project I posted about a month or so ago. I’m ready to move on that. I see a NOS Guild bridge from that era on Reverb, but it’s footprint is a little smaller. If I can’t find the right one, that one will work. Cosmetics won’t be a big factor with this project... the guitar is pretty beat up... so it’s no big deal if I can’t find the right one. I can get one made for $250, but I’m already poised to spend more on this guitar that it will be worth. I can’t toss this guitar in the woodpile. I have to bring it back to life. You know how it is...

I wonder if it would be best to just make one. I remember the bridge on my Yamaha FG-150 split and needed to be replaced. IIRC I paid $300 for it and a bit more to fix the nut.

Who knows maybe buy some rosewood, make a template and go to town. If all else fails you have a really nice pencil holder.

Ha ha... I actually still have the pencil holder I made in 7th grade. I keep it in my classroom for pencils for my students who “forget” them. No student ever leaves my charge without hearing the whole story of my pencil holder... poor kids.

The bridge on Reverb is only $100, so it’s a very viable option if I can’t locate one.

That’s actually what I ended up doing with a bridge I attempted to make for an old parlor guitar and quickly realized I wasn’t really a wood worker and handed the project to someone else. I butchered the hell out of that poor block of rosewood but now it holds all my mechanical pencils and a chopstick.

That’s it. Looks like an exact match. Thanks!!
That's good, because bridge mass helps get the top moving. The smaller one might not have been quite enough, but if this one's a bit too tall it can always be taken down a little without too much worry. :)

i will say that Umanov bridge is an amazing find, however! price is right also. would need specific measurements to consider it for a restoration, however it definitely does not match your bridge, VTer

Vermonter, glad to, but not sure how. Is there a messaging function here on LTG? I'm new here. I'm also fighting with a new computer since my trusty old Win7 machine croaked last week.

I do text, if that works for you. Makes photos easy too.

It's called Conversation. One way it to hover over the name of the person and then select "Start Conversation". I suspect some lawyer advised calling them Conversations instead of Private Messages but teh functionality is there.

Mine is 6" from end to end. Squared off ends are 1". I measure the holes at 2" (center to center).

fronobulax, thanks for the tip. I would never have figured that out.
