My seat-of-the-pants feeling is that used Guilds started steadily going up in price about three years ago, bringing us to the current point at which they no longer represent the “I stole it!” value they once were. Ah well, even at current prices, they’re a lot of guitar for the money.
I would hope that the one positive of the rising prices would be that it would make more sense to spend the money to reset the necks on them.

Doing some online shopping for my friend - I am finding that most D25's are going for North of $1,000 these days.
Dread you are right on. D4’s seem to be north of $600 these days. Which is crazy. I bought mine in 2012 for $350.. prices are hiked. D15’s are also listed upwards to $1400 in some cases. Just crazy.

Well I consider the D15 I recently got from a forum member to be one of the best guitar deals I've ever found! My DV52 was a great deal too, but that was 20 years ago. Both the DV52 and the D15 arrived in mint condition; I guess I'm spoiled in that respect. Oh, the D5CE I recently bought was mint too.

My old D25M has a few battle scars and a couple of repaired cracks, but the scars all have stories behind them, and there are no bad gouges. I have kept the beautiful arched back pretty much scar-free and polished. One major factor is to keep it in the case when not being played.

Most of the dings in the top were likely alcohol induced, like banging into the mic, etc., and one seed burn. Every picture tells a story.

But she doesn't look too bad, and with new strings she sounds like angels singing.

Vintage Guilds are getting expensive here in the UK, there is a Corona D25 in white for £1599 (around two grand in dollars) and and a recentish F20 for £2500 (well north of three grand!) Don't see too many old Guilds for sale here, people must hang into them.

The only US Guilds I see on reverb that are even around $600 are the 4s. JF4, D4. And a few Marks. It’s crazy out there.
