Must admit, the cars bring back lots of memories. I lived in a pretty rural area and was about 10 years old when these cars were new. I remember when a car would come up or down the road, all activity would stop and we would watch the car from the time we saw it until it got out of sight. Our family didn't have a car until I was 17.
And love the guitars. Great pictures and thanks for sharing!!

My Dad had two '55 Sonic Blue Cadillacs, ended up driving one and using the other for parts.

Wow, Stoox--a Studebaker Hawk! Supercharged, I believe.

But I am still a Hudson man . . .

@Steelman I love the Hawks especially and also the early Studebaker Commander's with the torpedo grille. But my grandparents had a 1954 Hudson Hornet in Mustard color that was a BEAST!! They were in a horrible head on car accident and I'm sure that car is the only reason they didn't perish! It looked like this, but in mustard....

1954 Hudson Hornet.jpg

This red wouldn't be a bad color on a guitar!!!

The '57 and '58 Golden Hawks (and Packard Hawk) had McCulloch superchargers and were pillarless coupes. The Hawks made after that were only Silver Hawks (although the Silver designation was dropped after '59) which had pillars and no superchargers. I love Hudsons too, at least until they merged with
Nash to become part of American motors. My wife's first car she got to pick out is a '58 Silver Hawk--red with black fins.

davisman, you are killing me with that photo! Yes I think from the grille that is a '54. I had 4 step-down Hudsons at one time. Shoulda kept the '53 Hornet.

Spoox, I agree that when Nash-Kelvinator took over, the end of Hudson was nigh. Your wife's Hawk must have been awesome.

When I lived in LA, the drummer in one group used to give me a ride to the gig in his Studebaker Avanti. Always remember the aircraft-style toggle switches above the windshield. Super cool.

Dreadnut, my folks had a light blue 53 Plymouth wagon. Since I can't have a Hudson anymore (no time, no space, no desire to mechanick), I drive a Mercury Grand Marquis! ;) Takes all my equipment with ease.

Love those classic colors! I once had that Sonic Blue strat w/ the sea foam colored pickguard....just like the one pictured, but it was an odd 70's hardtail model w/ parts from 2 different production years. I think I payed $450 for it and sold it for around the same. There were days I thought it was gorgeous, and others I thought it was butt ugly! o_O

Car colors were so vibrant and daring in the 50's and 60's. Now, most cars you see on the road are dull and putrid grey, white, black, silver, taupe, pewter or something else equally as boring. My wife and I each have red Subarus. I think car companies should offer various shades of red, blue, green and even coral. Hyundai and a few other companies now offer metallic orange, a step in the right direction.

Love all the '50s colors! I recently bought a shell pink G&L JB, and it has become my new favorite. It's a tone monster, has a super fast neck, and is a very geezer friendly 7.3 pounds thanks to an empress wood body.

I've been converted!
