My band is opening up at the Guitars 4 Vets Veteran's Day Benefit Concert on 11/11/11. That's one way to get your band on stage - be in charge of booking the acts for the show! There are four of us - 2 guitars, bass/harmonica player, and drums.
Our set list includes Drift Away, Summertime Blues, Good Time Charlie, Dixie Chicken, Pink Cadillac, Folsom Prison Blues, Bring It On Home To Me, Six Days On The Road, Runaway, and a few others. I'm happy because I sat down today and worked out the lead to Del Shannon's "Runaway" (the part done on the keyboard) but I don't play keyboards so I'm doing it on my electric guitar. It's one of those leads that I never got around to working out until today. This song is a crowd pleaser, we have the high voice singer, people love to sing along, but what good is it if no-one can play the lead, right?
Isn't it fun when it comes together? I'm just an old self-taught hack, but I do take some pride in being able to work things out on my own, and I always try to do it with the least amount of movement/spacing in mind.
Even a blind dog finds a bone once in awhile...
