Tuning Down

Tuning down a 1/2 step, and a whole step. do you tune the guitar to itself. I want to try to get a little more base out of my 12er. Can someone give me some advice on tuning down. 8)

.012-.050 or .052 is about right for a 12er tuned a M2 (2 frets) low.

 

[Scratch]

I tune most of my 12ers to 'D' vs. 'E'. Definitely bassier...
