Guss will be arriving in a week or so, and I need to make him feel welcome. What kind of capos and/or tuners does everyone like?

I've recently bought the G7th version of the Kyser (Nashville I think it's called). I like the action of the Kyser and the looks of the normal G7th - and this is like a slick Kyser and works well on my D35. As for tuners, I use a cheap peghead clip on type that costs about $20 and works well enough to get it close then finish it by ear.

My favorite capos are Shubb and Paige.
The Shubb is great for a 12 string and the Paige is great for 6 string guitars that don't have the diamond volute on the back of the head stock.

I have 4 regular Kyser capos but I don't use them any more.
If you put it on the head of the guitar when not being used, it leaves a chemical reaction on the finish of the guitar.
It has ruined the finish on my L-20A Yamaha.

I like the newer clamp on tuners, but I also have a Sabine that I use with a clip mic.
It's far more accurate than the clamp on type, but more bulky.

I carried the same Schubb capo in my pocket (next to my fingerpicks) for 20+ years until I lost it one day fumbling around for something at the hardware store. :( The silver lining, I discovered the Planet Waves NS capo, which I like a great deal. Intelli IMT-500 gets my vote for a tuner - works on guitar, banjo and fiddle.

Let's see.......LGT820 Intellituner works fine for me. I also have a Sabine zip 700, but it's not as acurate as the intellituner.
I've used my buds Korg, and that was an excellent tuner as well.

Jeff (the LTG moderator) had a pretty neat old SONY tuner (if I remember correctly), and it clamps to the headstock. That old tuner was very accurate, whoever built it.

I have several capos; I think the Kyser works slightly better than the Dunlop capo.

I prefer the low profile of the Shubb capos. And I also use the Intellitouch clip on tuner-its accurate plus it doesn't "hear" all the other guitars in the room that are also tuning or jamming...

WOW, I just pulled up the IMT500 tuner that Frosty mentioned......since I got mine a couple of years ago, the price has been cut by more than half. I paid twice that for mine and got a deal on it then.

Man those things have come down dramatically. Retail on the 500 was a bit over $60 when I got mine as I recall.

Man, getting ready for Guss is like getting ready to bring your baby home from the hospital.

Probly you're thinkng of this old KORG, I can't remember for sure when I bought it, over 20 years ago. I do remember it was quite pricey at the time, back when tuners were a relatively new invention. Saw one for 10 bucks at a guitar show a while back. Works OK, but it's not chromatic & you have to change the dial for each string, also it doesn't have a time out function, so if you forget & leave it on the battery dies overnight. The clip on accessory wasn't included, you can buy those for 5 of 6 bucks just about anywhere, works on any tuner with a mike jack.

This little Sony is what I use mostly. It has 3 readouts & seems to work better than most. I set it for chromatic & try to tune for the key I'm playing. Operates forever on 2 AAA batteries.

Oh heck Tony T, guess I wasn't paying attention. I just realized you bought one of Ken's guitars....a D25. I don't know what kind of deal you two made, but I'll tell you this........if you made a deal with Ken on a guitar, you'll be very happy with it. Don't come any better than Kenny. :)

He told me it was owned by a little old lady who only played it on her late husbands birthday. I see no reason not to believe him.He promised to send pictures, but his new digital camera has come up missing after his recent house guests left.

Seriously, I'm pretty stoked about it. He's been nice enough to hold it for me for a couple of months, and I'm just a few days away from not only my first Guild, but for all intents and purposes, my first guitar period.

 Oh, I personally guarantee that you have nothing to worry about with Ken........I'd trust him with my wife or my life (I'd trust her too BTW), You did well to do business with a guy like him.

In fact, that's me on the left, Kenny on the right, and our body guard in the middle. Love these guys Stetsons, don't you?

Hey, I don't own a Stetson, my straw (palm actually) hat is an El Cheapo, my winter hat is a Resistol. I can't afford a Stetson. Graham and Kenny on the other hand....nothing but the best.

I have not been happy with either Korg or Seiko tuners.
Of the two, I've preferred the Seiko. Next time, I'll spend
a little more money on a better tuner.
