Looks like I'm going to get a saddle and nut from Bob Colosi, to replace the Micarta on my F47CE.

The saddle will be a drop in item, as Bob will exactly copy the one I'm currently using, and the nut will be "semi-finished".

Any suggestions as to who, in Metro Atlanta, GA -or- Savannah, GA ,would be best to contact about completing the install of the nut?

I have to be thru both areas by car in around a month, and will be in each town long enough for such work to be completed, if I make prior arrangement.

You can do this Daddy! I just did. I'd never pulled a nut, but recently did on my D25. It had been in place for 29 years. I was confident enough after that to pull the nut on Coastie's guitar which I'm in possession of.

I had Don fashion me a new nut of bone, along with a saddle and pins. He did a fantastic job and I did the removal and replacement myself. There's nothing to it. I took a box cutter and very carefully scored both sides of the nut so as not to pull any finish. Then took a small block of wood to the fretboard side of the nut, and gently tapped with a hammer. They just put a small drop of glue on the nut and all that is required is that you break that loose. Clean the groove of any old glue or inperfections with a file. Then, just slip the new one in. I just have it resting in the slot held by string tension. That way, if you decide to make an adjustment, it's easily removed incase you wish to lower the nut by sanding the bottom. Really very easy to do. You're like I was, just apprehensive since you've never done it. You can do this....I swear it! When she's where you want her, just a single drop of Superglue between the nut and fretboard.

Thanks, West R Lee.

I'm certain I could remove the nut, and place and glue the new one, that strikes me as an easy task, and I'm pretty hndy with tools.

But I have neither the proper tools nor expertise to take the nut to absoulutely right size, or to properly slot it.

I don't want to take a $50.00 nut and mess it up, I'd rather pay someone a few more dollars to finish and slot it properly.

Anyone know a Tech in Atlanta or Savannah you'd trust?
