Top dips at bridge ends?

My recently acquired ‘86 D-25BLK has some distortion on the top at either end of the bridge. It’s very hard to photograph and you have to be at the right angle to see it at all. This guitar must have dried out at some point because there is a repaired side crack, so I’m wondering if this top thing is indicative of that, or if this is a common thing that is only noticeable because of the sheen of the black finish.

I would think that the black might have something to do with it. See what the more knowledgeable have to say. Doesn't look like trouble to me.

I have had, and still have, flattops with the dips near the corner of the bridge. Never been a problem and one of the guitars is over 20 years old.

One of my Guilds has this. I forget which one. Only on one side of the bridge. Once the sun is fully up here and I have some coffee, I'll see which one and see if I can get a photo of it. It's not uncommon, I don't think. Should be fine, but as @cupric says, I'm sure the gloss black makes it far more noticeable.

I think it is worth the trouble to have a luthier check the bracing underneath.

^ I would check the bracing too, but this is fairly normal stuff. Unless your guitar isn't playing right, there's probably nothing wrong here.

I have a minor top dip on my '11 F-30. Doesn't seem to affect it at all.

I should have noted that I checked the bracing on my guitars with the dip (and still do during string changes) and there have been no issues in this regard.

Yup! Very unlikely there's any problem. It's just the top taking shape around the bridge plate.

Thanks all. I feel better now. It’s playing just fine. She’s a beast actually. LOUD. But I will get a mirror or my phone in there and check out the bracing next string change.
