Thanks for the video … I enjoyed that! So I feel this image may be part of ‘the problem with Guild’… that Tom Bukovac so colourfully described. Bert Weedon sold SO many books, and was a nice player, a really nice guy, and almost always played his signature Guild. But he suffers terminal Dweeb-ish-ness! So in the public eye, that’s who played Guilds, very un-cool teachers, as opposed to the super-hip playing 335’s.
(There’s a flaw in my argument— what about Chet? He was pretty high in the Dweeb stakes too, yet there is Gretsch!)
Anyway I’m happy- lovely 60’s Starfire for the price of an Gibson case, suits me fine. (Maybe I qualify for Dweeb as well?? Teacher, writer, bit of a player… harsh but true?) But who cares.. I’ve got a lovely ‘66 SFIV Special (hollow), so maybe needing an image maker-over is of little concern!
(There’s a new video of this guitar in ‘Members’ Music’ if you’re interested!)
