Heating season is now here which means time to dust off the humidifiers. Gave mine a good cleaning yesterday, it's been a long time (if ever). Wouldn't believe all the mineral type crap that I cleaned out. Also got out my little cheapie humidity gauge that I keep on my desk.

I am amused. Mrs. Fro. and I had a similar conversation yesterday because it was too cold inside to leave the heat off anymore.

Well, I will try once again to get to Dec. 1st b4 I turn the heat on. I've never made it yet, I think Nov. 10th was about my best attempt. But, it's good to have goals. Humidity here is about 68% today so I'm not too worried yet.

Keep my guitars in the basement and just put away the dehumidifier. It will now stay 50-55% all winter long.

Here in MA I should be able to get to mid November before the RH dips below 40% in my house. From that point on I will have my house humidifier going day and night, and a soundhole humidifier in my acoustic until about April.

Mine run 24/7/365!! Right now they're on a slow(er) spell because the a/c isn't running as much as it has all summer. November should be a quiet month for them. Relatively. Then the heating starts......

Today's high is 88. Low of 61. It's a nice time of year! :encouragement:

Great photo! Ray Charles, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi gathered around a Rhodes electric piano. I would say the guitar is an A-350 B or an A-500 B. The floating DeArmond Model 1000 pickup was available on both instruments. ***

My house humidifier kicks in automagically when the humidity drops below 40% or so. I just have to remember to flush a couple hoses, change the filter and flip a lever once the furnace starts running regularly (which it's now doing). I also have a room humidifier for the guitars but I don't need to run it much unless temps get "wicked cold."

I have been thinking about it, but my two D'Addario hygrometers say its been between 40 and 53% for some time, so can probably wait a bit longer.

Funny, flashing highway-side state signs warning of forest fire danger after a weekend of rain...the light fuels on the forest floor must have dried out
fast, but the humidity is still high for easy ignition..I think?
